We had such a great experience at Guang Zho on Portola Drive! The food was delicious, full of flavor, and served in portions that feel incredibly generous. Dishes like the chow mein, combination fried rice, and Snowpea Chicken are standouts—fresh, comforting, and exactly what you want from a neighborhood Chinese spot. The staff is welcoming and kind. It’s the place you return to because everything tastes just right. A true Santa Cruz gem for anyone craving tasty, satisfying Chinese food.

Food was exactly what I was looking for. Service, she was spot on. Checking in with every table, taking orders, making no jokes, etc. Definitely had a polite small town feel. Hunan beef was nice, crispy and just spicy enough. Chow mein chicken and eggs rolls were perfect. I asked for every spicy sauce they had. Chili oil/spices was classic and deliciously delicious. Their other version of a thick spicy sauce was Not too hot but super tasty! Eggs rolls were nice and crispy. Definitely coming back. Thank you!!!

So many choices on the menu! The food is prepared and delivered quickly, which is great. The portions are huge, so think about 2 to 3 persons per dish if you think about adding sides. Fortunately they have sauces and chili sauce on the table, because ultimately all of the 6 dishes we picked last time were definitely lacking of flavor. All ingredients are here, plenty of crunchy vegetables but not that much spice or kick… The fried rice is excellent though!

Really positive experience with Guang Zho. The General Tso’s chicken was delicious, as were the pork buns. The noodles were solid as well (a bit too much turmeric for my taste but possibly just personal preference!).

Overall would definitely return!

Best take out Chinese food place in the area! Food was quick, fresh, and large portions. Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. This is right next to the 7-11 on Portola. They have lunch and dinner specials. Pictured: egg rolls and lunch special with fried rice and orange chicken. Everything was delicious! Can’t wait to go back and try more rems on their menu!

My husband loves this place, they give you so much food. I really try to like it, it taste good I just have a lot of stomach issues when I eat here. I have trident it three times so far. The hostesses is so sweet. I will keep going, I think I will try soup next.

We ordered General Toa Spicy chicken + fried rice with chicken + beef in Black Bean Sauce -and it was all SOO DELICIOUS!!
Quality wise but also the way that the tastes were balanced. Very kind and dedicated staff, which is always a nice extra.
My husband and I eat a lot of Chinese food all over the world so we’re not pleased that easily because of the many many many Chinese dishes we’ve had throughout the years and continents but this place really deserves the spotlight.

Top notch! Delicious! The tofu is amazing.
We ordered tofu and eggplant, and mixed vegetables with garlic sauce. Very glad we chose this restaurant.

04.18.24 On the border of Santa Cruz & Capitola. Cantonese Chinese food. Lady owner was sweet!

Small restaurant looks kind of run down on both the outside as well as the inside, needs very deep cleaning, new clear outdoor signage.

Very inexpensive lunch specials were tasty enough, though the soup that came w.it was inedible (clear vinegary soup w.bamboo slices & tofu), long cabbage filled egg roll was ok, Beef in Black Bean Sauce & Ginger Beef were indistinguishable but both were good, lots of food, nice stir fried crunchy fresh vegetables, hot steamed white rice. Hot tea was fresh & good. Utensils & plating needs to be replaced.

We would visit again.

Also; restroom is on the outside and you must get a key to use it from the lady owner. Parking is limited, maybe 12-13 vehicles only.

Great hidden place to get some great food at a great value. Portions are large and full of flavor. Do yourself a favor and stop by, my favorite is the Hunan Beef with chicken chow mein as well as the chow fun with shrimp.
