GTO Tamales & More in Rockford, Illinois is truly one of the best authentic tamale spots in the area the OG’s for real. Their masa, flavor, quality and sazón is unmatched… you can literally taste the original tradition in every bite. The food is always fresh, consistent and made with pride. Even though certain businesses around them have tried to bring them down with fake negative reviews, GTO continues proving who they are by letting the food speak for itself. Real customers know the difference and this truck is worth supporting, worth driving for, and worth talking about. This is exactly the type of local small business Rockford should be uplifting.

I was super excited to try this truck because i have been on the search for good tamales for the last year, today i went and got a dozen green chicken tamales, first look they look delicious, i was kind of sad they were a bit dry and its more masa than chicken but they have the potential to be great tamales i understand with food prices rising 24$ a dozen is reasonable my only issue is they need a bit more filling and they were a bit dry i feel like they had no green sauce. All in all i give them a 5/10 for the tamales 10/10 for customer sevice and the vibes were 10/10 i will be back to try again soon and hopefully my tamales search will come to an end. I believe they have the potential to be the best tamale in rockford

I can’t say enough good things about these guys! The food is always amazing, fresh and made to order! My favorites are the menudo, pozole, tamales and in the fall/winter the champurrado!!!!! We have family in Wisconsin that often asks us to pick up food for them before we go visit. Yes, the food is THAT good! And the customer service!? YOU CANNOT BEAT IT! A little piece of Guanajuato right here in Rockford.

First time I went the tamales were super dry with not much filling.I believe in giving restaurants an opportunity to redeem themselves, so I decided to give this place another try and picked up a dozen green chicken tamales. While they were warm and looked appetizing, they were mostly dough with very little chicken or sauce, resulting in a very dry texture.
Update- While it’s a food truck, it is still considered a small restaurant, and the experience should reflect that standard. Unfortunately, I visited twice and had the same disappointing experience both times. This raises concerns about consistency and quality, and makes me hesitant to spend more money there, not knowing if the service and food will improve.

As soon as the cold weather hits, this is our go to spot to pick up the best-chocolate abuelita-like champurrado & tamales! They have variety of unique options. Spicy, sweet or savory whatever you’re in the mood for, they will satisfy any cravings! I love that you’re able to just call in your order so it’s ready when you pull up to their food truck! Very nice, friendly & hard working family! We def love to show our support!! Can’t wait to see this business grow & continuously bring us their delicious & traditional food!
