The location of Grumpy Joe is okay and convenient, but the food was nothing special. The chicken was fine, the pizza was just your typical homemade style, and the pesto was dry and lacked flavor. I even asked for a bit of parmesan to improve the pasta, but was told I had to pay extra for it, which was disappointing. The only thing I really enjoyed was the gelato.

We dined in again at Grumpy Joe, San Fernando, La Union branch last 01/14/26.

We ordered Spicy Seafood Pesto, Seafood Marinara, and Pork Ribs. The prices of the food have gone up. We waited around 15-30 mins for the food.

Food ratings:
Spicy Seafood Pesto – 8/10
Seafood Marinara – 7/10
Pork Ribs – 7/10 (compared to last year, the portions are a bit smaller)

Drinks:
Cookies and Cream Frappe – 8/10 (I have a sweet tooth, so it was good for me)
Iced Mud Foam Horchata – 7/10

For 4 pax, we spent ₱3,468.21.

Overall:
Service – 8/10 (It was around 7:30 PM, and there was no attendant at the front. I had to wait a bit before we could list our names.)
Food – 7/10 (The food was okay.)

Yummy fried chicken!! 🙂 I was satiated immediately and even had the 2nd piece for take out. One of the best fried chicken for its price range in the Ph. The shake (yogurt berry) was also good!!

For the pizza, it was okayyy. Not really my type. I think it was the dough they used, same type sa lotsapizza ganun, better version. Though the toppings were good

Fast service and attentive waiters even though the place was full 🙂

Everything we tried were great and serving portions are large enough for sharing. Average spending per person is P400-P500. Servers are trained in serving but not too happy that they placed our group of 16 on a tight space where 4 of us were seated at each end of the makeshift long table configuration.

Service time was reasonable considering we went on a Sunday rush hour when the place is packed. We were there to celebrate with friends and at one point, the crew gathered around our table with a birthday song and birthday sintra board frame for the celebrant.

Overall, food is good value for money and would gladly dine here again, maybe during off-peak hours for a more relaxed dining experience.

Ordered ribs they were still frozen. I sent them back the same piece was returned warmed in microwave. Still not hot. This is pork ribs. For health reasons it should be hot. Salad was ok and the cup of rice was room temperature. I spoke to the server and a person acting as manager told them of my concerns. Asked for a discount. None. Paid and waited too long for change. I will say they have good napkins. But no wet wipes for ribs. Over 650 peso for 3 frozen ribs NOT a good deal. Perhaps this is the reason why they are called Grumpy Joes!!!

We had a fantastic dining experience at Grumpy Joe La Union. The food was outstanding, each dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared, and the portions were incredibly generous. You definitely get a lot of value for your money. The service was also topnotch. The staffs were friendly, attentive, and made sure our experience was seamless from start to finish. They really went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. The only downside was the parking situation, which can be a bit challenging during peak hours, but it’s definitely worth it once you’re seated and enjoying the meal. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, adding to the overall great experience. I’ll definitely be returning and would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious food and excellent service!

Came here for dinner with my girlfriend. It was busy but we were able to walk in and get a table. We were provided menus upon being seated. We ordered a 9″ 5-Cheese Pizza, Truffle Pasta, and Mozzarella Sticks. We waited about 40 minutes for all of our food since it was busy, especially with a large birthday party. The food was delicious, our favorite being the Truffle Pasta. We did not finish everything, so we were able to take-away leftovers, which the servers box themselves. We did have to ask for water multiple times. For service, you just have to wave down any of the servers, which again was busy. The atmosphere is nice, but the tables are little crowded and the noise made it hard to have a quiet conversation. I would definitely come back for more.

One thing I really appreciate about Grumpy Joe La Union is how fast they serve the food. Service was quicker than we expected, which made the dining experience even better.

Here’s what we ordered:
• 12” 5 Cheese + Grumpy Pizza = 11/10
The best combo! Flavorful, cheesy, and filling. Honestly, it can get overwhelming if it’s just for two people, so I’d recommend going for the 9” instead if you don’t want leftovers.
• Pesto Seafood Pasta (Mild Spicy) = 10/10
Very unique! I loved how it had roasted cashews (I think?) which gave it an extra texture and nutty twist.
• Grumpy Joe Refreshers = 11/10
Superb! For a second I thought I was drinking a mojito—refreshing and fun to sip on.
• Lemon and Lime = 8/10
Good balance of sweet and tangy, though not as exciting as the other drinks.

Another plus point is how they handle takeouts. They wrap your leftovers right in front of you, which assures you that your food stays clean and untouched.

Our total bill came out to less than ₱1,500 for 2 people, which is already such a good deal considering the serving sizes and quality. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Elyu!

Great ambiance, cozy and well lit! Food served is literally what you see on their menu, packed and good for 3-4 pax. And the taste, ! We ordered spicy seafood pesto pasta, 12″ 5-cheese pizza and chicken bites platter with potato wedges. For the dessert, sorbetes with cheese, avocado and kaning tutong (taste more like ginataang munggo) flavors. They have slots as well for car parking, front and back. Overall may take out pa kami kasi marami talaga yung serving for 3pax na.

No coordination among team members. Food was mid.

We ordered 1 9in 5 Cheese Pizza and another 9in Grumpy Joe Pizza. What arrived was a 9in half and half so we had to order another 9in half and half. The 2nd order came in too late so we decided to just have it to go. While waiting for it, we were served a 9in Aloha 5 cheese so we were so confused. Apparently it was for the table next to us.

We also tried their new truffle pasta – it had a sour after taste. There are way better truffle pasta out there.

Their Grumpy Joe Special burger was good.

When we billed out, we paid via bank transfer since the only other mode of payment was through cash. After we paid, another staff member came back and brought us the receipt (which we already paid) and asked us to pay it. We explained that we already paid and she didn’t even apologize for the confusion.

Honestly, not sure where the hype came from. The service can definitely be improved.
