Grove at Briar Barn Inn in Rowley absolutely killed brunch. From a creative Bloody Mary flight to what might be the best croque madame I’ve ever had, every bite felt thoughtful & elevated. Farm-to-table done to perfection in a cozy, inviting atmosphere. Huge props to Paul & Dillon behind the bar for their amazing drinks & exceptional service—really added to the experience. Highly recommend.

It had probably been a year or two since I last went to the grove for dinner. The menu has not changed all that much since I went there last, obviously some small changes. The food was very good, we started with the brussel sprouts and fried pickles which were both very good. I had the duck which was excellent and crispy, and the other two in my party had the lamb pappardelle and steak frites. The food was very good, we ended with the coconut cake and cookies.
Although the food was very good, I cannot say the same for the service. It was very disappointing to say the least. I don’t even think our server told us her name. It was slow, and she did not check in on us regularly. At one point we had all finished eating and waited probably 20+ minutes for our plates to be cleared and to order some dessert. Part of this issue may have been that we were seated in a dead zone it seemed. Originally the host was bringing us towards a booth, but then pivoted and sat us at a table right next to the server cart. Not ideal, it’s a bit weird eating next to where the servers go in and out of grabbing utensils. That was not the issue, anytime we wanted to do something we had to stare at the server to get her attention. Our water ran out in the beginning and was never replenished.
For a restaurant like the grove, and for as good as the food is, especially on a Saturday night the service needs to be better. It took the three of us almost 2 hours to have dinner, and we sat down early. It’s also a little confusing because on the website it says that the resturant is closed on Saturday for dinner.
Ultimately, the food was excellent, but the service brings this down, she was not around most of the dinner. She seemed to prioritize other tables a little more. Lastly, she just seems a little annoyed that we were one of her tables. All things you don’t want with a server, I’m not sure if I would go back here again because of the service. I can only imagine if we had this service with our whole family, dinner would’ve taken 3.5-4 hours.

I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at Grove at Briar Barn Inn in 2023, and it was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. The service and attention to detail were absolutely exceptional — just like at their sister property, Willowdale Estate, which I’ve always loved. The staff at Grove were professional, kind, and truly invested in making the day seamless for everyone involved. The atmosphere is rustic and elegant yet relaxed, the food was outstanding, and every corner of the property photographed beautifully. I can’t recommend Grove at Briar Barn Inn enough for couples looking for an intimate, elevated venue experience in the North Shore area!

An excellent Massachusetts wedding venue! I’m a wedding photographer and had the pleasure of photographing one of my couple’s weddings at Grove. I love it so much that I had to write a venue guide about it on my website.
Everything was great, from visiting one partner in Briar Barn Inn (where they were getting ready) right up until the dance party portion of the reception.
The staff were very kind (to the couple and to the vendors) and everything ran smoothly. I was particularly impressed by how they handled plan changes: this wedding took place during the first storm of the season, so I just had to get the couple outside for some snow pictures. This was no problem though, which was great.
I highly recommend Grove at Briar Barn Inn for your wedding. This cozy venue will take care of you on your big day!

Can’t recommend the Grove for a private event highly enough! We had my daughter’s baby shower in the Bramble House at the end of January. The food was delicious, beautifully presented and loved by our guests! What truly made the day so special was the help of Rachel, our event coordinator and her team. Their professional support made our experience easy and enjoyable. I would 10/10 recommend Grove for your next event!!

Our firm hosted our annual holiday party at The Grove this past December, with accommodations at the Briar Barn Inn, and the experience was absolutely wonderful. Rachel, our event planner, was exceptional; she handled every detail flawlessly and brought our vision for the evening to life. Billie-Sue, the property’s General Manager, was equally impressive, ensuring the hotel was perfectly prepared for our arrival and even arranging early check-in for our rooms. The entire staff was attentive and welcoming throughout our stay. Our guests raved about the event from start to finish and even remarked that the setting felt like it belonged in a Hallmark movie ❤️. It is truly a special place.

I recently hosted a baby shower for my daughter at Grove and it literally was perfect. Between the nicely appointed and cozy room to the excellent food and service, it was a wonderful setting for a very special event. I especially appreciated all of the support during the planning of the event. Between the tour of the event, to the suggestion for outside vendors, such as florists, to the helpful suggestions about the room set up. etc. I couldn’t be more pleased with how everything went from beginning to end. If there is another event in my future, I will certainly consider hosting it at the Grove!

My husband and I got married at The Grove 2 weeks ago and we cannot recommend this place enough! From our initial venue tour with Ali we knew this place was something special. Not only does the property provide everything you can need/want (with guests staying at the Inn), the staff is beyond exceptional, the whole property is so beautifully curated and the food is phenomenal. We wanted a remote New England cozy venue that was local to us and The Grove checked all our boxes. It truly feels like you are in the middle of nowhere (while still being so close to everything), tucked back from the main street, this unassuming property was the perfect setting for our wedding day! We worked with Jordan, who made sure the day ran better than smooth! Being someone that works in the wedding industry, I was hyper aware of all the timing, logistics and moving parts – something I was worried would cause me stress on the wedding day. However, Jordan was FANTASTIC! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her – she was beyond organized and making sure that everything happened when it needed to and was so sweet and calm during the whole process. I was not stressed or worried for a second that day. The whole event staff that night was so accommodating and welcoming and our guests who could not stop raving about the staff and the food all night long! The food was beyond what we could have asked for. My husband and I have food allergies and their Chef made off menu items for us for cocktail hour – this is just one example of the above and beyond mentality that The Grove has. Choosing The Grove was the best decision we made and we are so happy to now have a beautiful Inn and Restaurant to visit to celebrate our anniversaries.
