Biggest insult to injury was NO WATER. No water offering at a place serving mac n cheese and ramen. That part is just nuts.
My husband and I ordered the Ramen. He said his Chicken Ramen was bland. and I have to agree that my Shrimp Ramen was also bland. I would have enjoyed a well developed broth of seafood and herbs like ginger, tsoa-cho, cilantro, and garlic which is what I was expecting. At the least I was expecting perhaps a flavorful chicken broth. Seriously if you can’t make a decent representation of the ethnic cuisine then don’t have it on the menu.
My son would have liked the “plain” Mac & Cheese without crumbs but he understood that most places put crumbs on it. My daughter would have preferred the Popcorn Chicken come with BBQ sauce.
I strongly recommend that the restaurant accompany the soy sauce on the table with Sambal, and Vegetarian Oyster Sauce so people can at least add flavor to their Ramen.
The Fried Mushrooms with Dragon sauce was well fried but the sauce though good had no heat.
I have eaten at restaurants from Maine to San Diego, Seattle to Miami, and Wilmington, NC to San Francisco… and this is the only place I’ve went back to for lunch two days in a row. As such, (Day 2) the sharp, creaminess of the mac and cheese, mixed with other complex flavors in my Korean Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese was just the best. Sarah, one of the owners I assume, brought out a complimentary container of BBQ sauce, saying that’s how they ate it… and it was a great addition! Granted, I only used it sparingly but what a great call! The fried shitake mushrooms were also perfection; I have eaten shitakes all my life but deep dried, dipped in a horseradish (?) dip was new and genius!
The food says it all, but they also have several selections of beer on tap as well, so that takes them over the top. Sarah and friends do a fantastic job, period and you would do yourself an injustice by skipping out on this wonderful establishment. I’d give six stars if I could!
I got the taco mac and my wife smashed on some of the ramen.. good lawd. We left as happy as a couple of drunken clams… because we shared a $6 pitcher of PBR cuz WHERE ELSE DO YOU FIND A PITCHER OF BEER FOR $6 IN THIS ECONOMY?!!
If you own this place, great job. If I lived around here, I’d be back weekly.
If you were the awesome young lady working around noon today, I hope the owners see this and give you a lil bonus or high 5 or something… you’re awesome too. Thanks for the bomb food. Xoxo
