Lunch at Grimaldi’s Pizzeria (West Village)? Chef’s kiss. Coal brick oven pizza, fresh ingredients, and that cozy-but-classy vibe that just invites you to over-order (which we proudly did ).
They’ve got a great weekday lunch special (Mon–Fri, 11–3):
1️⃣ Giant slice + salad + drink
2️⃣ Giant slice + drink
3️⃣ Slice only – just $4!
Toppings are $0.75 each—and 3 per slice is the sweet spot.
We went in with a half & half pizza:
One side: The Don (meatball and pepperoni and I forgot what else!)
Other side: pepperoni with hot honey drizzle—a little sweet heat that did not miss.
We added a bruschetta sampler, two fresh salads with homemade croutons, and even squeezed in two glasses of wine (because lunch dates deserve a little extra).
Pro tip: Scan the QR code on the table to join their rewards program and start earning points immediately—super simple!
For dessert, we shared the original New York-style cheesecake and y’all… it was so creamy, smooth, and perfectly sweet. Don’t quote me, but I think the crust had a shortbread vibe to it—either way, it was everything.
Bonus:
Outdoor seating
️ Free 2-hour street parking
Our lunch for 2 with wine + dessert was about $80—but with the lunch special, you could easily stay under $30 and still leave full.
And the service? On point! Shoutout to Jacobie at the bar, our server Shane (Shyanne), and the guy who might’ve been the manager—everyone was friendly and attentive from start to finish.
Grimaldi’s team—you understood the assignment.
All 5 stars today. Well done! ❤️
I also appreciate that their tip starts at 18% instead of 20%, even though I left 20%. The Voodoo Hazy IPA is also very good.
The biggest issue was that no one told us there would be an additional charge for making the pizza half and half. There was no mention of an upcharge when we ordered, and nothing was clearly explained beforehand. If there’s an extra fee for splitting toppings, that should absolutely be disclosed up front so customers can make an informed decision.
The lack of transparency is what’s frustrating. We don’t mind paying for quality food, but unexpected charges without warning leave a bad impression. Unfortunately, this experience made us feel overcharged and undervalued as customers.
We hope management considers being more upfront about pricing so others don’t leave feeling the same way.
Our hostess was Jay and she was great pizza was delicious an the Carlson was too everything was at our expectations. We will be back
