I will preface my review with this: I have been griling and smoking meats, seriously, for 15 years. Very few BBQ restaurants measure up to my exacting standards. For reference, Rodney Scott’s in Charleston is one of the few. He is a Beard award winner.
We were hungry with limited to time to find someplace to eat. Knew nothing of the food options in Zanesville. As we drove by, I smelled the smoke. I love the smell of smoking meat.
A decision was made.
I ordered the brisket sandwich with fries. My partner ordered the pulled pork. It was not the best BBQ we’ve ever had.
The pulled pork was flavorless. No smoke flavor. No rub. Just sorta bland pork.
The brisket did contain a nice smokey flavor, however it was served with some weird sauce. Still not sure what it was.
The fries and onion rings were nothing to write home about either.
Again, I realize I’m a harsh judge of BBQ but the smell of the smoke did not live up to the expectation of flavor.

Always great food and friendly service. One of my favorite places to eat in town. The brisket sundae is amazing as well as the beef and noodle dinner.

I wouldn’t have even left them one star but it wouldn’t allow that they deserve zero stars the food is that bad..Do not eat here the food is absolutely disgusting will make you sick worst food I’ve ever had in my life I wouldn’t even consider it edible… I do not like leaving reviews like this but I’m being honest because I don’t want other people to waste their money.. wish the food was better but unfortunately it wasn’t.. I try to go to locally owned businesses was hoping to get good food from some of the reviews but I would say a lot of them are fake because there’s no way they got what I did. It was so bad my dogs wouldn’t even eat it….

Absolutely some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had!!! We visited Dave and his crew twice a couple weekends ago while in the area visiting The Wilds. The brisket I had was so tender, smoked, and flavored to perfection. Loved the kickin beans and fried mushrooms as well. Oh, and they have ice cream!! I had their ice cream cookie… It’s like a brick of ice cream and cookies slabbed together… Awesome!!! The staff was nice and helpful. Frankly, can’t wait to go again!!! Definitely check them out if you’re in the area!!!

The pig standing outside caught my attention. The smokey smell if bbq brought me in. The food was decent. The chicken was the best. The brisket was a little greasy, but tasty. Beans were very good. Potato salad was runny. Mac and cheese had a sweetness that was a little unusual. Wasn’t bad, but not what we’re used to. Try it. You might love it!

I waited in the drive through line for a little while longer than most would like. The prices aren’t real cheap for food but it’s a small town place and freshly made so it’s expected. The price and the wait are worth it. The lady taking the order was polite and quick. I ordered a grilled cheese and a peanut butter milkshake. The grilled cheese was very hot and fresh and the peanut butter milkshake shake was an A+, probably the best I’ve ever had.

Dave’s Grilling went above and beyond for our family when preparing and catering the meal after our mom’s funeral. He arrived early to ensure everything was perfectly set up before we arrived, allowing us to focus on being together without any added stress. The food was outstanding—everyone commented on how much they enjoyed it—and he thoughtfully kept everything warm and maintained for as long as we needed. His attention to detail and kindness provided comfort on a very difficult day. We are truly grateful and would recommend Dave’s Grilling without hesitation. Thank you Dave!
