When you walk into The Grilled Cheese Mania House you will be welcomed with a smile and some oldies or inspirational music playing. Our place is clean and affordable. Our walls are yellow like butter and the smells coming from the kitchen bring you back to a good warm place like my childhood home. Out front we have picnic tables, jumbo jenga, cornhole and other games to enjoy. All of our simple comfort foods are made on site with recipes that never vary so you can depend on consistency. Such a cute little shop and everyone’s so friendly! We got the port ruby to go. The bread is toasted nice and crispy, we loved the mushroom and cheese combo but felt like the sauerkraut was a bit weird warm. We are definitely open to coming back and trying other options. Overall great experience!!

I set course for Grilled Cheese Mania when I was about 80 miles away and looked ahead to see what vegan-friendly spots may be good to stop at in Harrisonburg, and I thought that this place seemed like it’d be tasty.
It’s awesome that they do offer vegan options with vegan cheese and butter, but I was underwhelmed by the sandwich. I at least was reassured that I indeed get the vegan version…by the fact that the cheese wasn’t really melted, as grilled cheese is supposed to be. But I know that the vegan cheese that they say they use DOES melt. So this really just needed to have been cooked longer, and the bread didn’t really have that yummy grilled quality (it looks in the pic like it did more than it did), either. It was fine, but…they really could have done much better.
Also, at one point I noticed a couple small pieces of egg in it, making me wonder if I ate any other pieces in this vegan grilled cheese sandwich. ♂️
When I had been looking at the menu earlier, I noticed on their site that they tout various extras/toppings to add, but as the woman was taking my order and about to wrap it up, I asked about extras, and she seemed to not know what I meant. (I then asked about adding mushrooms and avocado and she added it to the order.)
Now, this was about 15 minutes before they’d be closing, so maybe they were rushing…? I just found it to be quite underwhelming and think they should do much better.

What a great, fun little restaurant. We stopped in for lunch while on a long road trip. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Great friendly and attentive staff. I had the Maniac double decker grilled cheese sandwich which was over the top! I could only eat half and I’m usually a big eater. Their Strawberry Lemonade was the best ever! I saw a younger customer devouring a quart of their mac&cheese and it looked really really good. We will definitely stop in again when passing through.

We were in town and found Grill Cheese Mania. We ordered The Maniac, Triple Linndy, Mama Mania and a Winter Special/Chicken Parm Grilled Cheese! We absolutely loved the entire experience. The ordering, talking to the owner, the fantastic food, everything was great! We will definitely be coming back every time we pass through!!

Took some food to go for the family. Everyone enjoyed their food, especially the kids with their kids meals.
I had the buffalo chicken melt and it was great! The added horseradish dip was a good add-on.
The person handling our to go order was extremely nice, even covered our food with extra foil because of the rain.

The food here is phenomenal and has become a place I enjoy going to. Kathleen, the owner is a sweetheart and has good relationships with all of the customers that come in. Since the first time I came I have been thinking about her grilled cheeses. Definitely a place to visit when you can!

The staff have always been kind and Kathleen, the owner, is a breath of fresh air of a human. You can tell two things for sure:
1. So much heart went into this place
2. The people that are working there love being there and are treated with respect and kindness.
Now let’s get to the food –
Well if I could afford to eat there every day I would, but I’m not as slim as I used to be. That being said, I still somehow feel healthy after eating here despite it being grilled cheese. I so often feel heavy after eating, but this “simple comfort food” as they put it makes me feel perfectly content.
Also try the Ava Mix and a cookie…. The combo is unmatched.
I have so much love for this establishment. One day I’ll introduce myself to the owner and thank her in person!

The sandwiches were very filling and delicious.
My nephew found a hair in half of his sandwich and at first they were trying to say it was “cheese”. After some discussion, they did replace his sandwich. We knew the difference between hair and cheese.
My nephew ordered the Manic sandwich (I think this is the one with everything on it). He’s a big boy and he couldn’t even finish his sandwich! You definitely get your money’s worth!
This is definitely a place to try if you are in the Harrisonburg, VA area-it’s around the corner from JMU!

Can’t express how home like this place is! Kathleen brought my food and spoke with me about her business and what a story! If you are through town- definetly stop off and try! The port ruby is excellent and the sweet tea is perfect!

There are about four tables inside and counter seating. The menu is surprisingly broad and we all loved our meals — the Snowcap was especially tasty. Definitely get the pesto cream sauce! Staff couldn’t have been nicer.
