Grill City | A Taste of Authentic Filipino Flavors in Sugar Land
Reviews
Since it was 9 am, I decided to get a breakfast plate, the Grilled Silog value meal with two meats, garlic rice and two eggs. For the two meats I bordered longanisa and corned beef hash. I also ordered a foot long turon and a pound of chicharron. Oooohweee! Everything tastes so good and my belly feels like a stuffed pig. No complaints. I couldn’t even finish everything, so I took some to go. My advice? Come soon and come hungry! Why are you still reading this review? Go get in line now!
Disclaimer*** I did not eat here yet. I tried! I really tried!! The line was outrageous!!! I’m not mad at them. The food looks and smells delicious. Located inside of Seafood City Grocery Store. I came for lunch…line out the door. Came back at 2:30 pm. Line still out the door! The atmosphere is vibrant. Lots of families eating and enjoying themselves. Lots of conversation in the air. Very friendly and communal vibe.
I’ll be back soon. Hope I can get there early and find a good spot in line.
In the first few weeks, from its initial operation, I’ve heard about bad feedback from customers like people have to wait long lines just to buy their food. Nowadays, things are a bit organized and a little better.
With regards to foods, they do offer a wide selection of all-time Filipino favorite dishes like sisig, sinigang, adobo, crispy pata, dinuguan, ginataang puso ng saging, and much more.
On the grilled foods, they do have grilled pork belly, grilled squid, grilled pompano, and pork BBQ.
I ordered the pork BBQ, and it does taste good. The grilled squid tasted fair.
They also have a lot of Filipino dessert to choose from. To name a few are turon, camote-q, ginataang bolo, bilo, Halo-halo, and much more.
Despite a few flaws from the start, I’m sure a lot of people will be back to experience the taste of flavors that they missed from the Philippines. I wouldn’t mind coming back for sure!
So I decided to come back once the hype died down a bit. We came on a Friday night and it had calmed down a lot. Probably about a 15 min wait now.
We got a little bit of everything. The bbq chicken is better than the bbq pork skewers in my opinion, both were ok. The sauce is solid.
We got the squid, I was not a fan. My favorite were the lumpia’s, it’s pretty expensive though you can get a big tray of them from places like godos.
We got both the chicken skin and the pork skin, the chicken skin was one of my favorites but it is quite salty.
We also got the pancit, it’s pretty bland here. And the roasted pork, it was also one of the better items. But it was super fatty.
Finished off with the fried footlong banana and that was good not overly sweet. Washed it down with the mango drink. The drink itself was good but the little balls were super sweet.
Overall, for a food court it is okay but nothing I would wait over an hr for.
The line to order food was regularly so long that people would have to wait at least 90 minutes to over 2 hours in line.
There are also a number of complaints about issues with orders that include receiving “cold food.”
We attempted to eat here twice but left before ordering each time before ordering. The first time was due to time constraints and the wait to order being at least 2 hours. The second time was due to the wait time to order being OVER 2 hours and hearing multiple complaints about the food.
It was extremely disappointing and saw no effort being made on the part of management to improve the situation.
It is doubtful we will attempt to patronize this location in the future.
