The Grey Moss Inn has been a beloved staple of the Grey Forest community since the 1920s, evolving with each owner throughout the years. In 2020, after operating for more than 9 decades, the restaurant was forced to shut its doors. Now, the mantle of the Grey Moss Inn has been taken up by sisters Martha Valadez and Marisol Mendoza, who are proud to continue the legacy with a brand-new menu.
Rustic, romantic spot from 1929 with steaks, seafood, a long wine list, patio dining & scenic views.

WOW!!! This is a beautiful restaurant/Event establishment in the rural town of Grey Forest. The food was truly authentic and the service was excellent!!! The LIVE Music put me in heaven (how did they know I love eating food from Mexico while listening to Technotronic-Pump Up The Jam? I literally CRIED!!) The atmosphere was sooo friendly and warm from everybody inside the restaurant. I found my Hangout spot!! Compliments to the Chef!!!

Had this place on my list of places to visit for years! Beautiful, scenic drive there. Lovely outdoor seating area. Ordered the hot cakes with bacon at the host’s suggestion. Don’t recall his name but he was super friendly and helpful! Everyone raves about the pancakes/hot cakes but I wouldn’t say they were noteworthy in my humble opinion. I’d come again to try their lunch/dinner dishes. Really appreciated that they had a fan since it was warm outside, as well as table fans to keep flies at bay.

Came in for mid day service on the weekend, it was nice and quiet before the dinner rush, sat at the bar and the service was friendly and attentive. The food is incredible, authentic Mexican food and perfectly cooked seasoned meats. I can’t wait to bring more people to experience this little gem in forest.

Amazing good food! Mike M our server super sweet.
Having medical issues and too much sodium makes me ill. BRAVO to the CHEF using flavor and spices not just salt, thank you!

Hidden away gem. First off when the speed limit says 20 obey it or you will get pulled over and a ticket. One road and it is watched like a hawk. Ok best to have a reservation but we were early enough to get a table. Friendly greeting upon entry and service was great not just Bryan but the bartender and a few others. Great chips and thick salsa. Added guacamole was a nice portion. The pitcher of margaritas was a nice value for the table. Next time top shelf. The kids chicken tenders and fries were a hit. Nice portion too, which goes the same for everything else. The mole enchilada, the tings chicken, the tostadas were on my list for next time they looked amazing. And the chicken fajitas were delicious. Overall price was good, service and atmosphere excellent. Time it right and you get some live music. Can’t wait to go back.

Great location and history of the restaurant. Glad to see an expanded menu from my last visit. Wish they’d offer omelets for brunch. Service needs refining as our waiter kept reaching across people exposing the diner a view of the servers elbow and underarm. We had to flag down another waiter to get our bill after waiting several minutes. All in all a great place to try if in the area.

having been too many high scale, Mexican food, restaurants I have never received better service or had better food than at the Grey Moss Inn. I would recommend to everyone locally and not to visit the Grey Moss Inn.
I have never had a better margarita than the one Luis made to go with my fajitas. truly, a worthwhile dining experience!

All right, I stopped here because of the pancakes sign out front that I see every time I come through grey forest. My daughter makes the best pancakes in the world, but these were exceptional. Second best in the world. The patio was amazing in late October and everything else we ate was fantastic. I was sad when the old Grey moss inn closed but the new owners have improved made this my new favorite. I am afraid that it will get so busy soon that we will always need reservations.
Stopped by again for dinner! Exceptional service and food. This is an absolute hidden gem!

Great customer service, delicious food… we will be back! We came on a Thursday night when they have live music and happy hour until 8pm. Ate way too much because it was too good. The owner stopped by and chatted with us. Everyone was very friendly.
