Gregg’s came highly recommended by a former local. I liked the restaurant so much on my initial visit (James was a great waiter), that I went back the next day too! I enjoyed everything I had there: pickles, chef’s salad, pumpkin cheesecake, corned beef and cabbage, and apple pie. No doubt if I lived in Providence I’d be a regular at Gregg’s!!

Visiting from out of town; saw the reviews about the vaunted Death by Chocolate Cake and tried it. The size of the slice for the price is great; it’s big! However, for the love of me I cannot fathom what people are on about regarding this cake. It is MEH at best; the flavor lacks depth, the cake texture is lacks density, and it’s way more sweet than chocolatey. The frosting on the edge of the cake tries to mimic the frosting and chocolate chip combination found on the black tie mousse cake at Olive Garden. Whereas OG’s execution tastes like chocolate, the cake from Gregg’s tasted sugary sweet, not chocolatey. I wanted to like it, but it was really underwhelming so I can’t recommend.

Also purchased an Apple strudel. That was fairly good. Not amazing, but definitely better than average.

•The wife loves their pickled cucumber
•Their food in general are top notch and better than most places you’ll go to.
•Their prices are very fair and their portions are great.
•Their ice cream Sundae with peanut butter sauce and chocolate fudge is by far THE BEST sundae I’ve had

My family and I walked in at 9:15 looking to be seated for dessert and not a single person helped us. The restaurant closes at 10, but it seemed like other people were still sitting down in the dining area. There were workers standing at the dessert case that did not give us a second look to even ask if we needed help. Will not be coming back.

I ordered take out. It was good. Though I got onion soup and found the cheese used on it was not great. And kind of ruined it. Also I got a open face turkey sandwich everything was good except the gravy it had an unusual taste to it

We ate at the Gregg’s restaurant on N. Main St. Last week. The drinks were delicious and the waitress was excellent. However, my friend ordered the turkey and cheese salad that we’ve been ordering for 20 years and it came with deli turkey. We questioned the manager he said this is how it comes we said no it isn’t. I got the chicken salad sandwich, which started off Delicious until the third bite I bit into a long black hair. The waitress was very apologetic. However, the manager never came over to apologiz. He did comp the bill.

I havnt been there in a long time and decided to try it out again. The drinks where eh, good was good and the desserts where great. Im not particularly a milky liquor drinker so my review on that is from my own taste obviously. I like the family style atmosphere and our server was awesome.

Staff is great. Food is yummy. The pickles though? If you’re a pickle person? Don’t do it. Just don’t. You’ll regret every single decision you’ve ever made up until this point. You’ll WANT to like them. You’ll try hard. You’ll attempt to eat 3 and gag on the last one. You’ll then just eat the pickle skin and still hate the taste. So just save yourself the time, effort and stomach lining. Get the chocolate cake instead.

Greggs? Maybe just don’t make them anymore. We’re supposed to be kind – so let’s maybe do the right thing and take these bad larrys off the menu.

I went to celebrate my birthday with my toddler.
I was waiting to be seated a few min the dessert station was full and several older couples was dining in. Finally a girl came and asked if I was dining in…? Um why am I standing waiting at the sign plz wait to be seated… anyways she seats me rite next to where they retrieve the silverware and clean station for set up.
– awful. My toddler wanted to keep jumping to get the silverware attempted several times to get the sweeper. My waiter brought my salad he insisted I give my toddler a cup so I regrettably allowed it, He then spilt water on him bc the kids don’t stay on properly. I explained and handed cup back to waiter he didn’t even offer us napkins. My son was wet ..
the food I ordered arrived. OMGOSH so small of a portion!!! 20$ bucks…. What a disgrace like 5 tablespoons of mash potato’s 3 slices of turkey and a scoop of stuffing. For 20 bucks,
I was told the portions are good here. I came a few years ago and I enjoyed the turkey dinner so this was what I wanted. I didn’t think I would still be hungry or that I wouldn’t have enuf food to share with my toddler from one plate. I ordered pumpkin cheesecake I have got this to go for years it’s a fav of mine. The desert came to go as requested And the check , it was 32$ for a slice of cake and a child size meal of turkey dinner. I’m so disappointed . And sad bc I would have been thrilled to go back as it’s my fav meal. I even on the ride there contemplating ordering my thanksgiving dinner there(pre orders). SMH needless to say I don’t recommend Gregg’s to anyone bc your family and even kids will still be hungry.

Sad bc I recommended this very restaurant for dessert to 3 diff servers while I was dining this wk.

32$ for a meal for a single person is outrageous. It’s greedy and uncalled for.
If you raise the prices you should increase the portions.

I went Saturday October 4th after my Dad’s anniversary Mass. It was wonderful! There were 7 of us. The host was very accommodating and our waiter was great! He was on top of everything and we could be needy asking for more water, etc.
We took our desserts to go. Highly recommend!
