The menu is extensive, and it is so reasonably priced. I decided on the Chicken Curry combo with fried rice and an egg roll…. including tax and tip – $13! And then the plate was brought to my table. OMG – I couldn’t even finish – it’s huge! Tons of chicken, fresh crispy vegetables, and the rice did not dominate the plate as most other restaurants serve. The egg roll was fat and full of goodness. I asked simply for a water cup (being lazy since I forgot my water in the car). Their ice machine is broken, so that water was room temperature, and the daughter brought me a complimentary bottle of ice cold water without me saying a word.
I’m surprised some of the reviews say the staff is unhelpful. Last night, the family that runs this restaurant were simply wonderful! The children help with translation if Mom didn’t quite understand, and they greeted obvious regulars excitedly by name.
There’s no restaurant atmosphere here; you’re probably not coming here on a date. But, if you are looking for a fast, tasty, huge amount of Chinese food conveniently located next to your neighborhood grocery store, run by a kind family, THIS IS IT!
The food labeled as spicy was indeed not spicy. General tso tofu nor orange chicken were indeed mild on the spicy scale. I did like that there were vegetarian options and healthier steamed options outlined specifically in sections on the menu. My friend said his egg roll that came with his combo plate lacked luster. The veggie fried rice was decent, had some flavor and seasoning, but wasn’t the best I ever had.
The prices were affordable, especially for the affluent Ahwatukee area. The service was good and overall we didn’t leave dissatisfied.
