My partner Ken and I visited Greens Restaurant in San Francisco on the last night of our honeymoon, and it could not have been more special. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and perfect for a celebratory evening. Our server Ron, a 20-year veteran of Greens, made the night unforgettable. He surprised us with champagne, gave us the best view in the house at Table 2, offered thoughtful menu guidance, and even joined us for a quick photo.

The food was fresh, flavorful, and wonderfully light. The cauliflower soup was especially memorable, incredibly smooth despite having no dairy. We appreciated how satisfying everything was, especially before catching a red-eye flight.

Huge thanks to our local friend Wilder for recommending we try Greens. We are so glad we were able to get a last-minute Sunday reservation and experience this San Francisco gem.

This is a fantastic spot for a birthday, anniversary, or any special occasion. It’s a vegetarian restaurant. reservations are definitely recommended. Located right next to Fort Mason, it has a beautiful setting, and if you get a table near the window, you’ll enjoy a gorgeous view of the bay. The menu changes with the seasons, and I’ve tried many different dishes here. Highly recommend, it’s one of my go-to places for celebrations!

Came here as a large group of 12 people as part of a family celebbration. It was crowded at 7pm which was expected for a Friday evening. While it took awhile for the staff to focus on our group and get all of our orders, the food was really good and made up for the slower service response. Overall I would say they did a reasonable job for Friday night traffic and we enjoyed the vegetarian food and flavours!

The space is great with views of the GGB. Our server was excellent & helped us navigate the menu. There were many vegan & gluten free options to choose from. Our favorite was the Falafel Platter with seed bread. We also ordered some sides and the ramen. Unfortunately, the flavors were bland and underwhelming. Unsure if this is due to our vegan and gluten free restrictions, so the standard dishes might be better.

Thankful to Greens for making my mom’s birthday special. We were originally at Radhaus next door, an establishment always noisy, impersonal, and hostile. We thought, let’s see if Greens has a table, and sure enough they were able to squeeze in our party of 6.

We were treated to a beautiful sunset in the dining room. The quality of the lighting, wood features, spotless windows, and acoustics in the dining room contributed to a meal that was utterly remarkable.

For the food, we savored the depth of flavors on the butternut squash pizza and grilled polenta. The spring rolls were the weakest of the dishes.

The hosts were so kind to us and showed genuine interest in seating us. The service was nothing short of professional. Greens is a true San Francisco gem.

Wow — what a treat for vegetarians! The food here is both delicious and wonderfully unique, with quick service and a warm, inviting ambience.

Highly recommend:

Fresh Pasta: Incredibly simple yet bursting with flavor — you can truly taste the freshness. I couldn’t stop eating it!

Khaman Dhokla: A rare and delightful surprise on the menu. Most places serve mediocre versions of this Gujarati favorite, but this one instantly reminded me of my mom’s cooking. I loved the creative twist with roasted vegetables (though I’d have preferred something lighter than eggplant). Hats off to the chef!

Just okay:

Green Corn Soup: Appetizing but not particularly memorable in presentation or taste.

Black Sesame Mousse: Great concept and nostalgic, reminiscent of sesame laddus back home, but lacked the distinctiveness you’d expect from a standout dessert.

Overall, this restaurant is a shining example of how good vegetarian food can be — I’m so glad I had the chance to dine here!

The food was good but at that price point, I would expect something exceptional or nice plating etc.
You could say you’re paying for the atmosphere but while the views were great, the atmosphere/decor inside feels incredibly dated. 24 dollars for a tofu scramble is not something I’d pay here again. The 6 dollar corn bread is definitely something I’d get again. We also got a bahn mi and soft grits.

We were seated quickly though and the service was great. Food came fast.

I’d say if you’re looking for a nice vegan/vegetarian experience, there are better options.
And if you’re looking for something more casual, this would be better suited however the price point doesn’t match the experience.

A beautiful dining experience. I highly recommend the Wild Mushroom Wellington! Great friendly fast service, but no rush to move you on. Ask for a window seat. You might get lucky!

A new found favorite.
There is a reason this place has been around since 1979. It deserves to be.
Was it an accident we ended up here for my birthday dinner when it was thought we were going somewhere else?
Serendipitous fate is how I see it in every aspect.
We got a window table with a spectacular sunset view, service was extremely attentive (swapping our plates perhaps more than necessary, but I appreciate the intention), and the food…
How can I possibly describe it?
Well…I bought the cookbook and complimented chef Katie personally if that says anything.
It was like food art in presentation and taste experience.
One appetizer was so good we immediately ordered a second one. You should go and figure out which one it was before it’s not on the menu anymore.
Because it is seasonal food selections, we indulged as much as physically possible. We filled our bellies to the top.
I look forward to returning as soon as possible. I wish there could be more than one location, but understand having just one allows total focus on delivering only the best of everything they can.
Hats off to everyone working there. You are spectacular!

There is a reason this restaurant has been around so long. They have always done an excellent job of creating fun vegetarian or vegan dishes. Nice cocktail menu although I must have got one of the only drinks that seemed child sized. It was good though. I forget the name (sorry). Go and have a great night out. Beautiful view over the bay and bridge if you go at sunset. Don’t skip desert!!! Reservations recommended.
