Greene Growlers – Trivia Kings
Since their 1994 founding as the first brewpub in Montgomery County, Maryland, Growlers has become as an icon in Olde Town Gaithersburg.

Don’t judge this place just for its beers. Their food is top notch, always great music upstairs and often GREAT live bands on the weekends. A must try if you are in Montgomery County looking for a great lunch, dinner and night out.

Cozy brew pub in a historic building in Old Town Gaithersburg. Parking in back and in near by garage. Bar food creativity reimagined. Nice entre selection. Grilled asparagus side was surprisingly good. Open for lunch and dinner until 10:30 week nights and 11:30 on weekends.

So it’s called Greene Growler’s now, as they have new ownership. The place is still the same way it was before the shake-up. Good beer, with good food to back it up. They have yet to get their brewery up and running as they’ve just got the proper licensing to begin doing so. I wholeheartedly believe once this is back I’ll change my review to 5.
The magic of this place is that it’s almost a staple of Old Town Gaithersburg’s charisma. I grew up seeing this place on a weekly basis. I’m always running into old friends when I come here. I’m always making new friends when I go there. It helps provide to the allure and nostalgia of the building. Appeals to the sense of pride you have in where you come from.
Ultimately it’s the same place as it was before, but new ownership brings new ideas, which brings new opportunities for everyone who decides to stop in. Friday’s you’ll see the more youthful crowd flowing through with a live DJ performing, Saturdays they have a live band so you can jam out while you hang out.

Not gonna lie…after hearing about how much of a “great selection” there was here, it was a really big let down. Especially considering the time of year with summer on the doorstep!! Not a single saison or hefeweizen to be seen and nothing brewing for the growlers either. The stout was enjoyable at least but I was sad that only 5 different beers were on the menu….Definitely need at least 9 or 10!!

Vastly improved! Brewing their own beers finally, and they are very good. Food menu is great, although the entrees seem to vary in quality from visit to visit. Need to work on consistency a bit. We love the place, the people that go there, and the staff. Average once a week dinner there.

Food is excellent. Good beer! Limited menu, but what they had they did well. I got a sandwich with sliced ribeye and beer cheese. I would recommend this to anyone who loves steak. It was very good. I went on a day that was 50% off for teachers , so it’s cool they appreciate local educators. They also fill growlers for 20$ or u can get a 64oz aluminum can for the same price. They were slightly understaffed when we went so it did take a little longer than desired.
