Lowkey feel like bartenders take advantage of drunk people here with billing. I got 7 $1 beers, a blue moon (which I thought was $1 and the bartender gave no clarification) and 2 vodka-crans, came out to $74. My friend got 4 $1 beers and the bartender refused to tell him that it’s a $15 minimum with cards. Bartenders aren’t rude, but clarifications need to be given when people are ordering/going to pay.

The girl who initially helped me was more interested in talking to her friends then helping anyone else at the bar. I didn’t finish my first beer when she asked me if I wanted a second to which I said sure. Then when I was almost done with my second, nothing. 20 minutes after finishing my second beer, I was finally asked by a different barista if I wanted another and I ordered food since I was hungry. Food was good and the beer was fine. Service really depends who is paying attention really. Trying to flag a server down to order or close is the most challenging thing at this bar. As bad of a rep that blackbear or madhatter may get, the service at those spots are worlds better than Green Rock.

Extremely disappointed with this bar. Came here with a large group for my birthday and the bartender refused to give people their receipts. One girl was charged $77 for two drinks. After DMing the bar on instagram we came to the conclusion that she was double charged for her drinks. After asking for a refund due to the fact that her dispute was denied (because she didn’t have a receipt) the bar left me on read.

Keep in mind I walked in here at late hours of the night (1AM-3AM) and not during dinner service. Let me just start by saying that I’ve never stepped foot in here until tonight but I’ve passed by this place multiple times while being a resident of Union City and Hoboken for 27 years. My first time at Green Rock was the night of August 30-31. My friends promised me we would get in and we did with no problem (came in through the back which I thought was weird). After getting in, myself and my girlfriend I went over to wave over the bartender and ask for a drink. No response at all. I had to ask a friend of ours (which we paid) that goes there often to get a drink for us and that was successful. After taking about 3 sips of our drinks each, one of the two bartenders (Olivia Hammond) proceeded to throw our drinks away saying that, “we left those drinks unattended.” This comment was completely asinine because we were near our drinks the whole time and cemented by the bar top. As we go over to the manager HJ, (the man in charge didn’t even give us his full name) we tried to level with him and say mistakes happen. We also ask, “Is there any way we can have our two drinks back because they were barely touched and we did not leave our drinks unattended?” He says verbatim, “I didn’t see it happen and I have to trust my bartender with an action like that.” These two drinks were canned Surfsides. As he’s rolling his eyes, he offered two green tea shots instead. I knew there was no way that I was winning this battle when I never thought of it as a battle and I knew that the best thing I could do was leave.
Would I ever come back here? Most likely, no!
If you were to ask for camera footage would you get the result that the manager swore happened? Not to the fullest degree!
Service was horrible and it’s maybe because those girls most likely wanted to go home, completely understandable but a service industry job still needs to be fulfilled in some way & if those people scheduled cannot handle a Saturday night, as a Manager, do better by your staff!
Don’t come here and definitely don’t come here if it is a last resort. If I could give 0 stars I would!

I had the worst experience today. The bartender gave me an espresso martini with ice. When I asked her to please remake it, she called her colleague and asked me, “Do you want it?” I said, “Yes, but please make sure you do it right.” I’m paying for a drink, and I don’t think it’s fair to be served something that isn’t made correctly. The bartender then called security and told them I was drunk, even though I had only ordered one drink and simply wanted my espresso martini for my birthday. I don’t recommend this place. I got kicked out just for asking them to remake my drink, and they falsely accused me of being drunk.

Double check how much you get charged for your drinks! Bartender claims “tabs automatically close at the end of the night” but seems like that was a way to charge me extra. Outside of that, the DJ was good and a good mix of people on a Saturday night

Green Rock has been on my list of places to check out in Hoboken ever since my BF told me that they had BOGO burgers on Wednesdays nights (starting at 8pm). We showed up at around 8:30 and the place was pretty empty, despite the burger special and the live music that was going on.
I had the California Burger (mayo, avocado, bacon, american cheese). I ordered it medium-rare, and that’s exactly how it came out. That’s usually hit or miss at a lot of burger places but Green Rock got it right. I subtracted a star because the only option for buns was an English muffin (which I’m not a huge fan of), and the fries were meh. Still, BOGO is a great deal and I’ll definitely be back on another Wednesdays. They have great specials on other days, which I’ll be sure to check out as well.

I would’ve loved to give this place place more stars as the bartenders were truly amazing, but the bouncers were very rude esp, Frank!!! I felt they don’t have experience hosting an international crowd and were a bit off. Suppose you are planning to have a good time go next door ugly Irishman bar- where you will be treated as a human being. They lack basic training in hospitality.
