Im a mail man. So Green Island was on my route today. Smells amazing when you walk in. You get greeted by the two sweetest ladies on the planet. They let me try a spicy beef patty.

First, be warned, not all food is available upon walk-in. Most entrees have to be ordered in advance, cook-to-order, which was a shame as I was seeking callaloo & saltfish. However we adjusted, and selected from the ready-made food, which included jerk chicken, curry goat, brown stew chicken, patties, etc. The curry goat was well cooked– a little light on the curry but tender & flavorful, & I appreciated the extra gravy over my rice. The patty & cabbage were fine, but the collards were inedible– we all tasted it. Waaay too spicy. Like, kill dead spicy.

The food was tasty and the portions were large. They have a good variety of food. The location size is small and the owners and workers were very friendly.

Everything from the service to the food was exceptional! I placed my order in advanced (4hours prior to pick up) over the phone and the service I received was exquisite. The gentleman was very kind and friendly, despite my complicated order. His personality even made my day better over the phone! When I arrived to pick up my food, the women behind the counter were so very sweet and welcoming. My food was HOT and ready on time. I’m a big fan of Jamaican food and the flavor, textures, and aromas of Green Island food was superb. I was beyond impressed with the entirety of my experience. I greatly look forward to my next meal here!! I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant among many in the greater Danbury area! You will not be disappointed!

I agree with all the negative reviews on here. I’m not from NY but even in Waterbury and Bridgeport you can get really great Jamaican food. This Food had no flavor and it was WAY overpriced. $25.00 for what was supposed to be a medium but was really a small for jerk chicken with rice and a sprite. I pay $12.50 in BPT for a medium, same in Wtby. Even the sprite was flat lol. Crazy Crazy Crazy.

I had the Oxtail and the peas and rice dinner which also came with a bit of cabbage. I ordered the small dish via UberEATS and when it arrived it seemed rather small, but it actually turned out to be rather filling. Very generous portions of Oxtail and the meat fell right off the bone. It was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I laid it out on a plate and felt like I was right at home with a nice meal. Definitely a place I’d consider ordering from again!

Not what I expected from a jamaican restaurant. Nothing beats New York style Jamaica restaurants they put flavor and spice in their food. I paid almost 20dollars for a patty a piece of Easter cheese and banana chips. I will make sure I get my food from New York next time.
