Green Bamboo in Nelson is a great Vietnamese restaurant. The food is super fresh, tasty, and authentic – especially the pho and summer rolls are amazing. Big portions, fair prices, and really friendly staff. The place itself is simple but cozy and clean. Perfect spot for a quick, delicious meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried Green Bamboo. Most Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to have been rather rundown, small, and “budget” type places. But Green bamboo was elegant, spacious and had high-quality food. Definitely recommended, although expect to pay a little more than the typical budget location.

Yummy, fresh food! A new favourite spot for whenever I’m in Nelson.
Update: changed to 4 stars as didn’t have as good of an experience the second time around. Maybe it was just the dishes I ordered, I’m unsure. The rice paper rolls are amazing though and I definitely recommend them.

Ordered fried springtoll, the spicy beef pho and the mixed rice noodle salad. Tasted great, but the rice noodles in the salad was hot/warm…which is usually cold?

Food comes out quickly every time. Portions are good and it tastes delicious. The Vietnamese coffee is also such a nice treat. Only been for lunch but the dinner menu and cocktails also look good. Always a favourite spot for lunch whenever I visit Nelson.

What a find – we booked online last minute on a Saturday night and we were lucky to get a table. The interior is elegantly contemporary with touches of Vietnamese imagery and colour. We shared an appetizer which arrived promptly, my cocktail (Moscow mule with fresh mint leaves) was light and refreshing, and our curry mains were deliciously flavoursome and with just the right amount of warmth. Service was good. Well worth a try.

Well presented and tasty meals. Kids enjoyed the crispy spring rolls. Dumplings were a bit too dense and tasted like sausage meat. The two curries were delicious but we felt expensive at $32-36 each. Some gluten free options available but I would love the vietnamese pancake to be made GF as I can never have it and it looks so good. Overall, a basic meal for five (two kids under ten) was $191 which is certainly not going to be done often. Kids had juice and two adults had a beer.

We tried pho beef noodle soup and chicken noodle soups, we liked both. I’ll visit again whenever I crave for a noodle soup

Came for a weekend trip to Nelson and decided to book a table at Green Bamboo. Lucky we booked the place was packed. We really enjoyed the starters, I loved the crispy spring rolls and the chicken nibbles with the passionfruit and ginger sauce was nice and sweet. I loved the dipping sauce that came with the crispy spring rolls. We also ordered the Spicy beef Pho and the Rare Beef Pho, the broth is beautiful, I loved the spicy beef, could do with a little more ginger but the lemon and chilli on the side is great. I do feel there is a bucket load of noodles as we just couldn’t eat not even half of them and that does take up alot of the bowl….less noodles and more of that amazing broth and it would have been 10/10…but still nice. Food goes beautiful with a nice cold beer which we really enjoyed. The young lady that served us was very sweet and friendly and the guy as well. Thank you for a nice evening.
