I can’t say enough about the Green Arch! My family have been regulars at this restaurant over the years and there are many reasons as to why. EXCELLENT food (I had the pork chops – their signature dish – AMAZING!), Great atmosphere (they’ve kept and maintained the look/feel of the restaurant since it began in the 1930’s) and EXCEPTIONAL wait staff. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality of food provided and Matt, Paul and his staff are friendly and accommodating. Oh…and don’t forget to have one of their bourbon old fashions…a cocktail they have mastered and have been making for as long as I can remember! When visiting the area, we always look forward to dining at the Green Arch and will continue to do so in the future. Bon appetite!

What a great spot to visit for dinner and / or drinks. Maintaining a 1930/40s feel and background music you feel like you stepped back in time. The regulars at the bar were friendly and recommended some great dinner options. Great mixed drinks. Dinner was veal over angle hair pasta and a steak. Both were delicious. Looking forward to visiting the next time I’m driving through.

Great local spot not to miss while in Cortland. Definitely look at the menu before you go. Steaks were absolutely delicious. Swanky Frank Sinatra music was playing through our dinner which was nice and fitting for the old school restaurant. Our server was wonderful.

What a disappointment. We couldn’t wait to celebrate my husband’s birthday with a great Italian meal. The first disappointment was the selection of pastas. Rigatoni, ziti and angel hair. We had planned to order the pasta al vongole (with clams and clam sauce) which is traditionally served with spaghetti or linguine. Okay. We changed our thinking to one of the dishes that works well with ziti. When we tried to order the pasta cooked “al dente”, our waitress told us “we don’t do al dente?” Excuse me? How can an award winning Italian restaurant not “do” al dente. When we questioned that, our waitress curtly responded with a shrug, “not my rules”. So we had to rethink our entire order. No pasta. Okay. There was a 10 oz. Angus filet mignon special, enough for us to share. At $ 48.00, imagine our shock when we were told there is a “share plate” charge. Fortunately, the steak was superb, cooked perfectly at medium as we requested. Amazingly, the green beans WERE cooked al dente, so the concept is not completely foreign at The Green Arch. If we had been hoping for a great steak meal, I would have rated it a 5. However, when you want pasta, nothing else really works. By the way, be sure to take a pair of surgical gloves or hand sanitizer. The grease covering the outside door and every surface in the bathroom has been accumulating there since the Green Arch opened in 1933.

Overall the restaurant was very nice and the staff was helpful and kind and easy going. Bathrooms were acceptable. Overall the food just wasn’t top notch. I added blue cheese crumbles to my salad and there were far too many. I ate most without salad. If you really love blue cheese crumbles maybe this is good!. Ordered veil and it was over cooked and tough. Also had an excessive amount of cheese on it. Prices however are excellent and extremely affordable. I would give it a second chance. (Editing my review to respond to the owner below. I remember my experience well. There are 8 photos below. You will see my heavily cheesed and well done veil. I was with several people. We experienced a wide variety of food and drinks.)

The Green Arch has been a long time favorite with our family for many years. It has been preserved to remain the way it’s always been. Whenever we take anyone there they love the entire experience. The food is always delicious and the staff friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend giving it a try.
