So, I don’t know what happened today. I come here almost once a week, and usually order any of the bacon-wrapped dogs. Today I ordered the Portland dog, which is bacon-wrapped, with swiss cheese, mushroom, onions and BBQ sauce, on a ripper dog.
They brought me the dog with no bacon. I ask them, not angry or something, that they forgot the bacon. The lady went to the kitchen and told me that the bacon was put in bits over the dog, bevause the bacon was frozen (?). I told her it was supposed to be wrapped. So they took it inside and brought me this. The dog with two slices of overcooked bacon.
I mean, I don’t request anything else that the dog the way they prepare and advertise it. And they, instead of fixing it, brought me this, with no common sense or at least an apology.
I don’t know if they got any trouble, but it was the first time they make a mistake with me, and they did not try to make up for it.
Too bad GAHD. I hope you can read this and try to be a little more active when you made the mistake, not me.

I’m really torn on my rating for this place. Their hot dogs are excellent so I feel maybe a 5 star on that, but the prices are really high! I know these are gourmet hot dogs, but they’re still hot dogs! At the time of writing this, the cheapest hot dog is $4 and the most expensive is $10 for a single hot dog. If you want sides or a drink it quickly adds to that price. That being said, the food is excellent so if you’re willing to pay for it, you will probably enjoy it.

I’ve been contemplating coming to the Greatest American Hot Dogs restaurant for quite some time. I finally visited last Sunday and was not disappointed. The Manhattan dog was delicious and reasonably priced. These guys do not skimp on the toppings, which I really liked.
I live in Germantown, but I’m willing to travel to support an awesome small business that serves delicious food. I will be going back.

This is it. Just go. If you love any type of hot dog that you’re mind can think of or that you’ve had somewhere in the US, then you can get it here. The menu is very intimidating because they have such variety but the quality is there too. I got a Chicago hot dog and this place nailed it. Every ingredient is perfect and as a side I got the chili cheese fries which was plenty for two people. I visited here a second time and got the DC Dog which is very similar to Ben’s Chili Bowl and tastes just as good. I really like both places chili so it’s hard to say which one I liked better.
What is bringing me back to this place is the Chicago dog. And this is a 30+ minute drive for me from DC and it is totally worth it.

Love this place. Absolutely amazing array of hot dog, half smoke, sausage, and topping options. Only a few tables, but a nice place to stop for lunch. While I can’t help getting a chili and slaw dog every time I go, the Italian beef sandwiches are also excellent.

Best place in Derwood to get a hot dog! But seriously, great people making great food makes for a great spot. Been here 100 times and never had anything that was less than awesome. From the charm of the menu or dogs named after local and national places, too the fantastic Italian beef and fried pickles, this place just can’t be beat for a quick sit down or take out meal. Best dog Anywhere Ever. My favorite is the Maryland dog. Get it now and thank me later

Great variety to choose from. If you can’t find a type of hot dog you like from here, you’re probably not trying. They also serve tasty Italian beef sandwiches, but be sure to get it dipped to insure juicyness. The prices here may be a bit high though for some. Staff is pretty friendly.

So many options! All of them looked fantastic. Dogs are perfectly cooked and taste like heaven, especially if bacon wrapped. Fried pickles are on point and whirly fries are pretty cool but average. Best hot dog I’ve ever had, I can honestly say it. Gotta hand it to these food trucks and small businesses, they know what they are doing.
