Been holding back to try this place, was absolutely stellar. The service was fantastic, the food somehow even better than my expectations.
Not pictured are the cheese curds. Perhaps some of the best you’ll have in your life. Somehow melt like cotton candy in your mouth.

First time trying this restaurant. Loved every single thing about it. The atmosphere was super cool and the food was absolutely amazing. The chef at this restaurant put together a great menu. Everything we ordered was exceptional, but the Bread Pudding was the best I’ve ever had. I was not expecting such a great restaurant when I went there. The service was outstanding and it was a lot of fun. Everybody was dressed up for Halloween. Highly recommend you give this place a try.

Multiple visits. Food is wonderful. Hot, tasty, and flavorful. Creative twists and some originals too. The atmosphere is the BEST! No TVs. Just me and my date enjoying crazy good cocktails, good food, and an amazingly renovated “old world” space. We keep going back. Bon appetit!

Stopped by while waiting for the kids to finish watching the football game. The old fashioneds from the bar were outstanding, and the bartender was top-notch! However, the food was a letdown. Ordered cheese curds, and while the four unburnt ones were tasty, most of the plate was like what’s shown in the picture.

Brought my wife here on a Tuesday night for some drinks and dessert. We had our drinks served by Tim, who expertly crafted me an Old Fashioned and Black Pearl, they were EXCELLENT! My wife had the Hummingbird which she called “A pallette pleaser”, and she enjoyed it immensley. The staff were super attentive, friendly, and overall the atmosphere was exactly what we have been looking for. The building is very old but the ownership clearly went to great lengths to preserve the original character, with a mix of modernity. There are, THANKFULLY, zero TV’s on the walls to be seen, and you can actually have a conversation with someone next to you distraction free.
We also met Jess, who was very friendly and had a great time talking with her.
We had the cookie butter banana cheesecake which was PHENOMENAL.
Overall The Great White Buffalo is an breath of fresh air. It’s an Locally owned, ORIGINAL design, almost speakeasy-esque atmosphere and we loved it. We will be back, and bring friends too!

I have lived on the West Coast and East Coast. Frequented many breweries and establishments that serve a variety of food and beverages.
Highly recommend their “Topaz and Necromancer” cocktails. Eggrolls for an app and any of their buffalo burgers.
This experience tonight was outstanding. Jessica, your hospitality was top tier and felt like I was in the company of old friends. Not many spots like this are you treated well let alone leaving with a bruised wallet.
Price point is incredible and some of the best cocktails I have ever had.
The owners know what they’re doing and their passion show the moment you walk through the door.
It’s understood children aren’t allowed, but to experience dining and cocktails like this, you deserve an hour or two amongst other adults to decompress from the day-to-day.
If you haven’t been, GO. Cheers

A friend and I went there for our birthdays, had some local IPA beer and the Old Old Fashion, because I’m old. I made a good choice. Moved on to appetizers had the East Meets West-crab Rangoon meets jalapeño popper KILLED IT! I could have licked the bowl. We shared the Poutine Americana, it was a large portion, OMG the angus beef in it was so tender it just melts in your mouth. 10/10 great food, great atmosphere, beautiful decor. Owner super friendly he and his wife, he sat with us and chatted. Great time!

We have been looking for an intimate and cozy place for specialty cocktails away from downtown Des Moines for a while. When we discovered the Great White Buffalo Public House had opened in Adel, we had to check it out for happy hour. Worth noting, a reservation is preferred, but we were able to snag a hostess-escorted bar seat easily right after open. The bartender, Tim, was extremely warm, attentive and knowledgeable. We felt comfortable and welcome right away. We tried the Rare Breed and Topaz drinks as well as the amazing Espresso Martini. The cheese curds (with BOTH sauces to try!) can only be described as fluffy clouds full of cheese. There are no TVs so connection with others and conversation are encouraged. We had really enjoyed ourselves and met folks we might not have otherwise bumped into. I love that they kept the integrity of the old building and the custom curved bar is a sight to see. Fit this place in your to do list after 4pm. You won’t regret checking this place out.

What a gem! Great White Buffalo has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Adel. The atmosphere is super cute and cozy, perfect for a relaxed date night. The bar has a really cool vibe with creative, delicious cocktails. I tried the Mean Margarita and it absolutely lived up to the name, bold, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.
The food was fantastic, and the service was just as impressive, friendly, attentive, and welcoming without being overbearing. You can tell this place puts care into every detail. Whether you’re grabbing drinks with friends or settling in for a night out, this place hits all the marks. Highly recommend!
