Very homey restaurant, and exceptionally clean. This has been a staple for my family for 20 years. Always enjoy our meals here!

Great Wall is Chinese American food in the Midwest. Everything was acceptable but not exceptional. I had the lo mein which came out a little nondescript. And my friend Jeff had the sweet-and-sour chicken, which came out looking a little bit like chicken McNuggets with red sauce. Service is good. The space itself is a little bit dark and uninspired. I felt the prices for higher than I expected by a couple bucks an entrée.

Service was fine but food was horrible. Most of it tasted freezer burnt. Left very dissatisfied.

My wife and i showed up on a Monday night. The place wasn’t too busy, but the food was incredible. Fresh, hot, and delicious, we both enjoyed the meal. It’s pretty impressive to find a place like this in a small town in Iowa.

Chicken Chow Mein – fairly tasty. Sweet and sour chicken with sauce on the side – average. Orange chicken non-spicey – so over cooked that two clumps of chicken had to be cut apart with a steak knife. Burnt orange rinds made it orange. Fried rice – no flavor. Spring rolls – fairly tasty. Service – dirty dishes on two tables when we arrived and still there when we left. We were the only customers in the place, so not like it was busy. And sorry we bothered you.
I felt so bad that my grandson couldn’t finish his orange chicken that I made it at home for him the next day.
I normally don’t give poor reviews, but it truly was a disappointment for 2/3 of our party.

No buffet. No credit cards taken. The service was fast, but we were one of three tables occupied at 6:00 pm on a Wednesday. The hot tea was dark, but lacked any flavor. We ordered chicken egg foo Yong and sweet and sour shrimp. The waitress took our order at 6:03. The food arrived thirty minutes later. The waitress came to our table three times total and never asked how the food was. We did not get complimentary fortune cookies. The flavorless tea cost over five dollars for the two of us. The sweet and sour shrimp was mostly breading. My egg fu young was pretty good,
But the sauce was salty. Once the music turned on (around 6:45) the atmosphere improved but I could not recommend this restaurant. I noticed the other two tables were not cleared as we left. The place was empty as we left.

Our food for two people was 40$ and we literally took two bites and left our food on the table. We started with crab rangoons which weren’t great. I had the sesame chicken and my husband had the general tso both tasted burnt, cooked in oil that should have been changed 3 days ago, covered by unflavored sauce. The best thing was my Pepsi out of my sticky cup. We will not go back.

Actual meal was good. I ordered fried dumplings. They looked like a plate of goo. The insides came out when you picked them up. They would not stay together, looked like raw dough. Told the waitress 3 times. She did not remove them. Her suggestion was to fry again after they had already been fried. I eat fried dumplings at least 1-2 times per week for years. Never like that. Told they were like that because they were fried. She still charged for them. None had been eaten I even put them on another table for her to take. I told her at the register that she can take them off or I would not leave a tip. She chose to charge. She lost a tip and customers.

Stopped for lunch today. The place was empty at noon, that should have today me all I needed to know. The General Tso’s Chicken was almost ok. Way to much sweet glaze with no heat at all. The fried rice was just white rice with some dark glaze mixed in. No egg, no veggies mixed in. The egg roll looked about the size of a dog treat with no flavor. I ordered a fountain diet Pepsi. After I sat 10 minutes with an empty glass I went and got my own refill( I was the only person eating in the place). When I got the check I was charged $2.79 for the soda I had to get my own refill. The temperature inside the place must have been 60 degrees. I think it was warmer outside than inside. At this rate you may not have to worry about eating at this place much longer but if it is still open you may want to pass.
