The Great Northern Dining Room is a full service restaurant, which is open for breakfast and dinner (lunch can be ordered in the Empire Bar). Breakfast is often served as a buffet, but may also be ordered à la carte. The dinner menu features classic entrées, elegant appetizers and robust dinner salads. The dining room does not take reservations and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Meals were included in our railroad package for the Great Northern Dining Room. I have to say that we were mostly disappointed with the food. Twice we were unable to eat a normal dinner as the kitchen exhaust fan was broken and the kitchen could not cook any food but soup and salads. They tried to accommodate us by telling us the local restaurants to go to eat. Our food vouchers were not being honored for a full dinner.
As for breakfast, which is a buffet, the choices were simple. No real variety from day to day except for Saturday when they added both an omelette station and blintzes. The biscuits and gravy were the worst I ever tried. They were not quick to replace the food as it was depleted. The fresh fruit was ok. The selection was just not worth what they were charging. Please see the pictures.

We loved the food here. The vegetarian food seemed to be a particularly big hit with my friend and her daughter. Nice views, friendly staff. My only complaint is that I wish the menu was a little bit larger; after a few days it felt like we were running out of new food options.

Grading on a “hotel restaurant in a national park” curve – it’s great. Cozy, woodsy, and friendly, with food quality that punches above its weight. Prices are fair. That said, it’s still a convenient hotel restaurant.. so temper expectations accordingly.

Go visit the Glacier Park Lodge to see the lobby and enjoy the view from the back patio. Maybe visit the extensive gift shop. Skip the bland and boring food at the restaurants. Great service cannot make up for uninspired cooking even if the presentation is pretty.

What a memorable dining experience we had at the Great Northern dining room. The food was delicious the drinks were awesome and spending time in such an iconic Lodge it’s definitely a bucket list experience.

We really enjoyed the Three Sisters entree. It is vegetarian, possibly vegan, and absolutely delicious!!! It’s so nice to have a vegetarian option that feels elevated/gourmet…something other than the standard veggie burger or pasta. For dessert we tried the huckleberry bread pudding and it was also very tasty. The service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed a mountain view from our table in this beautiful, historic lodge.

Could not go to the restaurant for dinner because they are all closed up and gated. Found out that yesterday, 9/21 was their last day for the season and today 9/22 they are closed. Disappointing because it was one of the few places I can eat with Gluten free labeled on the menu. I was told about the closure from my server at Serrano’s Mexican restaurant.
