The best egg foo Young I have ever tasted! Every meal I’ve eaten at the Great China Restaurant was above average by far. I highly recommend this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed, and buy a key chain or a hoody while you’re there.

We did not have a good experience here. Our waitress had a cold demeanor. Our food came fast but the BBQ pork was very dry. Kung pao fish was ok but pieces of fish very heavily breaded hard to taste the fish. They charged $3 for the side of rice that was very dry tasted a day old. Spring roll had a huge chunk of cabbage only inside. It was all edible and given large portions but it did not meet our expectations in terms of quality and taste. I understand it is Chinese-American but for the prices we expected better. The best thing was the complimentary hot tea at the beginning. We will not be going back.

My family and I have been coming here my entire life. This place is like a home away from home. From the staff knowing my family by name and always feeling welcomed and treated like family.
Since moving away from Kirkland to Seattle whenever I cave Chinese food this is the only place I want. I have tried other restaurants and they just do not compare.

This place is just the best. My family has been going here for decades. My father was actually their very first customer at grand opening. To this day we still celebrate yearly by having our family meet here for dinner. Absolutely wonderful staff, relaxing atmosphere, and the best Chinese cuisine you will have ever had (disclaimer i’ve never been to china ) you will not regret it. Love em, Ill be a customer for life, just like my dad was.

The highlight of the night was the Salt and Pepper Fish — perfectly crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside, with just the right amount of seasoning and spice. It’s easily the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Every dish we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, but that fish alone is reason enough to come back again and again.
Gennie checked on our table personally to make sure everything was perfect, which really made the experience stand out. You can tell she cares deeply about both the food and her customers.

Great China Restaurant was a wonderful surprise! The Prawns Delight featured fresh vegetables and a generous portion of prawns, making it a standout dish. The egg drop soup was served hot and was full of flavor, a perfect start to the meal. The personal pot of hot tea was a nice touch, allowing us to savor the experience at our own pace. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it an excellent spot for a relaxed meal. The server who came to get our orders was quite impatient with my elderly husband. She probably didn’t mean to but my husband wanted to ask about the food on the menu and even before he can ask the full question, she would start stating the ingredients assuming that’s what my husband want to ask. She finishes every sentence he starts. There were only three tables that have customers. Food is what you would expect from a Chinese restaurant that caters to westerners so if you want good Chinese food that is more authentic, you might want to find another restaurant.The food is freshly cooked and comes to your table piping hot.

Update 6/2025: DOH food rating sign now says “good” – not sure why it was downgraded. Honey walnut prawns were still as I remember them being.
Update 10/2022: I still love this place! The food is always hot and very fresh. The prawns on the walnut prawns are so amazingly large. I’ve called in orders for pick-up and those are always ready in around 15 minutes. The individual combo dinners have great portion sizes and we often end up with enough for 2 more meals of leftovers from each plate. Their food rating is still marked as excellent.
The food here is always fresh and excellent! Their food safety rating is also excellent (5/2019). The staff are friendly too.
