Reviews
Every time I come in, I never have an issue. The food quality is very good. The people that work there are friendly and talkative.
I’m a Grayslake resident that chooses to make purchases at local places versus going to the bigger well known chains. Italian Ovens has fresh food that tastes amazing! I personally order a Hot Classic Italiano and sometimes a side, my wife usually orders one of the pasta dishes they have, we’ve ordered pizza on multiple occasions and never have we been disappointed.
Ive been coming here since the place opened and its changed hands a few times. The gentleman previous to Patty having it was running it where I almost didnt come back. The food quality started to go downhill. When I saw there was a new owner I gave it a shot again and like I said previously, I havent been disappointed. Patty brought this local favorite back to life and I hope the success continues and people who read the reviews stop in and decide for themselves that this is a great place to go!
I love this pizza! You need to try it.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the owner does not keep enough staff on hand to accommodate their client base. This was clearly obvious to me in terms of my assessment from eating there 3 times.
Because he is the cook, the order taker and as I witnessed my first time there, he is also the delivery driver. I simply ordered a slice of pizza, he said he had slices in the back and it would be a couple minutes and I would be good to go. What happened is he microwaved left overs and then left to do a delivery in the neighborhood. As I stepped outside to smoke a cigarette, I couldn’t help but notice him quickly pulling into his back spot behind his business and heading inside. At that point, I received my re-heated (microwaved) pizza slice. As I drove I realized what the deal was. He needed to heat up cold pizza but also had a delivery so he played his cards. I would of had a much more pleasant realistic experience had he just been honest and told me that their were no more “Fresh” slices. Instead, he attempted to play a pizza lover for dumb. Anyone in the world knows what re-heated pizza tastes like, its almost as pitiful as someone who dare substitute Ketchup for Spaghetti Sauce because there in a jam. Big NO NO.
The 1 Star is because he was polite and he works hard.
His strategy for running a customer friendly eating experience is below average at best.
Edit: thank you for the prompt reply. I am outside your delivery radius which is why I tried to use Door Dash.
MY RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE:
1. Drivers come with out had shirt or bag.
– Dashers are independent contractors; shirts and bags are not a necessity as there are no rules for having shirts or bags.
2. Should say hi name and here to pick up for whatever company and customer name.
– During my visit, I kindly said “hi” and stated the name and patiently waited.
3. App send driver when order was just placed .
– correct.
4. No fault on us but the third party apps that send u out before order has been confirmed for a pic up.
– I never put the blame on anyone for this. I waited respectfully and patiently.
5. Drivers are rude when they come and have to wait.
– This is a hasty generalization.
The reason I left this bad review is because I was nothing but polite and patient with this restaurant when waiting for my order. I didn’t say a single word in fact. When I was handed the food, I said thank you and nothing else. The owner then stated to me “The customer asked for extra juice for the italian beef sandwich, but I’m not including it in there. You should know that there is an extra charge for that, and we don’t have time to do any of that. We are way too busy”. She said this is a very angry and impatient manner. I disregarded this, and said thank you once again.
I, the Dasher, was nothing but polite this whole visit. From beginning to end. It was the owner that instigated the hostility. Now, to no surprise, continues to respond aggressively to an honest review.
