As a semi-frequent visitor before the fire and just visited for the first time since. I’m happy to report that the quality seems to be just as good if not better, everybody got their food fast, accurate and hit the spot. The drinks were good, root beer float was killer, and the burgers and chicken sandwiches were great. Go ahead and visit before they close for the year, and looking forward to 26.

Charo Cheeseburger (Single) made it a basket. (Fries and Coleslaw or Chocolate Pudding). I chose the Chocolate Pudding. The drink is extra.

Not a fan of their burgers because of the burnt patty. I don’t know if that’s really their style or if it was a one-time mistake but I would definitely not order their burgers again. I couldn’t taste the beefiness of the patty or anything else aside from the burnt taste.
However, I did enjoy the sides. I absolutely love their perfectly seasoned fries! The fried mushroom is good too, especially with the included ranch. It has the same batter as the usual jalapeño poppers available in other food places (e.g. Sammies) so if you like those, you’ll probably like this too.
Ambiance is good. It’s the typical drive-in but what sets them apart is they provide a food tray that can be placed/clipped to your car’s windowsill.

We stopped for their opening day. It was really good and the man helping us was very friendly. They were busy but did well under pressure.
Stay in your vehicle and they’ll come out and take your order or go to the picnic table and either scan the QR code and order or they’ll come over and help you there as well. And baskets come with fries and coleslaw.
Chicago dog, onion rings and root beer were yummy! ❤️

I was looking forward to finally trying this place after they reopened. However I wasn’t really sure what to expect. The chicken strips are not real pieces of chicken. Everything was fairly overpriced for what it was. The Mac and cheese bites and cheese fries were ok. The pudding wasn’t that great. My mom said the burger was cold. They also never came back to get the tray from the window. I probably won’t be back.

I grew up on Dog N Suds in Indiana and was happy to find that they had a few of them around this area as well. The service has always been good and of course the food is great too. There is just something fun about have your food brought out to the car and enjoying with friends and family.
One of the best root beers you can buy.
If you’re used to the Dog N Suds in Indiana it is a little different since they use Chicago Dogs here which has more of a snap to the skin but the flavor is still great.
Make sure you follow them on Facebook, they post about local community nights and other village events. They have had Air cooled VW nights in the past and it looks like some Grayslake village festivals coming up soon too. Some good ole classic Americana.

Dogs n Suds is a rare taste of Americana in Northern Illinois. I’ve come here for two years now, and it’s worth the 45minute drive for an old fashioned Coney dog. Their chili is sweet and savory, and it tastes delicious on their dogs and burgers. I also highly recommend their root beer because it’s less bubbly and more frothy. I personally get a lot of food each time I go (since it’s so out of the way) but it’s not necessary. You can get away with spending 8-12 per person.

I lived down the street from Dog n Suds when I was a child, so this drive-in has been a part of my life for at least 50 years. Quick, and friendly service. Terrific food. I have no idea at all what anything tastes like, aside from the coney dogs, Texas burgers, and root beer.
