This is the best BBQ in Northwest Oregon. It is worth the drive from Portland for sure. The Pork belly burnt ends are some of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Don’t miss ordering the slaw either!

Pork belly burnt end hands down the best thing on the menu, it has a biting soy flavor that kicks your tastbuds in the mouth. Next, I really enjoyed the roasted chicken. It has a smoky flavor that is quite nice, third favorite mac n cheese, perfectly seasoned and creamy. Over we spent $125.00, a ton of food, I give it 9 out of ten. Drove 87 miles here but totally worth it.

So good. If only they had a pdx location. From line, to ordering, to getting food, it took us about 42 minutes in total. There was about 15 people in line when we arrived. The line moved pretty quickly and they ran a very efficient operation. Some of their menu items are on rotation. We ordered the tri-tip, smoked sausage, chicken, and mac-and-cheese. All of which was fantastic. The sauces were delightful as well! It tasted even better when we had leftovers later. There are limited picnic tables but plenty of grass area if you bring a blanket. We got our food to-go and it came in very thoughtful to-go containers. Make sure to grab your utensils right at the front when ordering.

Hubby and took a drive from Vancouver, Wa to Hood River to try this spot that I found on instagram. We’ll travel for some good barbecue. This is a food truck, but worth it. The line was long, but seemed to move along quickly. The food was amazing!! I did not like the sauce for our beef rib. Overall really good food. Not enough tables in the lawn area to sit and enjoy your food. So bring your own or a blanket to lounge in the grass. There’s a bar/restaurant next to the food cart if you want to get a cider/beer while you wait.

The Grasslands crew always delivers! Pork belly burnt ends are always a must-have, the pulled pork has brisket-like bark, their chicken is a staple, and the summer-Sundays-only tri-tip satisfies the craving for smoked beef without the richness of brisket. Definitely stop by when you’re anywhere near Hood River.

We had just returned from the Texas Monthly BBQ Festival and so were anxious to compare some of Oregon’s best against Central Texas’ best. BBQ Grasslands definitely qualifies!
Just and hour East of Portland, Grasslands is open Saturday only at 11:30 am until they sell out, or 4:00 pm. They are the real deal style Central Texas barbecue.
We recommend the excellent brisket and pork belly burnt ends. Both are outstanding. The pulled pork and chicken sausage were terrific as well. The hatch green and cheddar sausage had way too much cheese and too little hatch chilis for our taste, and there was an off putting petroleum flavor related to the black pepper chicken thighs. Since the chicken is cooked direct and not on the offset, my guess is the cook didn’t let the lump coal burn down to hot coals and cooked it over the raw charcoal, which gave it the petroleum flavor. Disappointing.
The smashed fried potatoes and Tex-Mex slaw were both delicious, and we would return for these all of the time. Overall, great barbecue!

You know that feeling when you leave a great concert, movie, vacation, when you drop into a deep depression and are constantly mentally returning whenever the moment allows? That is precisely the feeling you will have after eating here. Food elsewhere just flat out does not compare. The brisket is flavorful, tender, and juicy. The pulled pork is phenomenal, piled up high on their sandwiches paired with soft toasted buns and an incredible aoli spread that almost had me munching on the plate until a passerby slapped it away from my mouth. The sausage as well, hits the nail on the head with the perfect ratio of filler and meat. It is a good thing they are 1 hour from me, or I would quickly go broke eating here, and would be the happiest fattest homeless guy you ever did see. Come, and experience all the different decadent meats and sides they have to try at Grasslands Barbeque

Holy Buckets of BBQ Bliss! The food! I took my good friend to Hood River for a birthday day trip, and this spot was a must-hit on our list. They open at 11:30 and serve until they run out—which meant we rolled up praying the meat gods had spared us a plate.
Thankfully, they had! And let me tell you, we ate like we were rationing for winter. Every bite was so good; we savored it. I even boxed some up for my husband because marriage is occasionally about proving how much better your day was than his.
Oh, and I grabbed some frozen BBQ meats for the grill because future me deserves this joy, too. The service? Shockingly fantastic for a food cart. The picnic area was clean, the grass looked happier than me with a plate of brisket, and this place is now permanently stamped on my “must-return” list… all thanks to my taste buds.

Okay some of the best BBQ I’ve had in OR. You should go!
1. The pork belly burnt ends were phenomenal.
2. The Texas slaw was so unique, so flavorful, and went well with everything!
3. The BBQ sauce was great, with pulled pork on white bread and a pickle- the perfect bite.
4. It’s great that you can take your food into Ferment Brewing which has ample seating space, heated outdoor seating and a big menu as well!
Downsides: they’re only open 1 day a week and they sell out fast.

Loved the BBQ here. The only problem was that we reached late so most of the things were gone. Remember to get there early if you want choices
