My friend and I were trying to find good home style restaurants in the greater Jacksonville Florida area and found Grannies’ Country Cookin’ restaurant in Starke to fit the bill perfectly. Everything was fantastic! The water even tasted better than most restaurants serve. We each ordered the chopped sirloin burger.
with sautéed onions and gravy and I chose the homemade biscuit with sides of mashed potatoes and northern beans; and my friend chose the sweet cornbread with green beans and hash brown potatoes. The staff are all so friendly and the price for our food was only $16! You definitely have to come to Grannies Country Cooking in Starke. The owner even said that on Sundays they serve all-you-can-eat southern fried chicken. They’re only open from 5 am to 2-ish, so come early and hungry!
Update on 8/13/25: Came to enjoy something on their menu and the all-you-can-eat spaghetti sounds really good. $9.35? It is! Thanks to Robert, aka Dopey, and Grannie (there’s actually one, believe it or not)
Update on 10/19/25: My wife and her son and I came for Sunday lunch and it was fabulous! Alonso chose the AUCE Chicken, which stands for All You Can Eat with cabbage and lima beans. My wife chose the pork chops with mustard greens and cabbage. Yours truly chose the turkey and dressing with mashed potatoes and green beans. We all chose corn bread. Our server did a great job and we appreciated having Robert, the “chief bottle washer,” to stop by our table and ask how everything is.

Delicious pancakes, and they were huge! They came slathered with butter. Unfortunately, they had no blueberry or banana to top them. Eggs cooked nicely and refillable coffee. Plenty of seating in the front room that day with another room in the back as well.

Food is home cooked absolutely delicious. Everyone was pleased with their order. Our waitress Robbin was extremely helpful and friendly. We were visiting a local resident and will be sure to come back on our next visit.

Wonderful jewel of country restaurant in Stark. Down home atmosphere with very friendly staff. Our waitress was Robin and we loved her. The food was great and the prices were on par for this type establishment. Very happy and we will return again in the future.

We stopped here for lunch on our way home to Clermont, FL today!! The food was incredible…..home cooked meals that were absolutely delicious and reminded me of my momma’s cooking! Our waitress, Ms. Robbin, was super nice and kept checking on us! It’s hard to find good waitresses like her these days!! I highly recommend this place!

Absolutely loved this place. It really does feel like granny’s home. Lots of friendly staff and lots of room. Seat yourself. Anything on the menu is recommended for southern home cooking

We’re from Ohio and come down here every winter for training (motocross) and look fwd to Grannies country comfy cooking!!! When the picky teenagers love coming here, you know they’re doing something special at Grannies!!!!!

The atmosphere is everything you would expect from southern hospitality. The service is top notch. The food is impeccable. The meatloaf was literally the best I have ever tasted. My husband had the Phillysteak & Cheese. He ate it before I could get a picture . The sides and biscuit were definitely homemade. More food than the 2 of us could eat plus drinks was under $20. If you are in the area you do not want to miss out.
