Grandpa Pizzi’s Place, formerly known as Pizzi Cafe, was originally opened in 1934 by Tony and Mary Pizzi, two young Italian immigrants who settled in Conneaut, Ohio. After 84 years of being in business, the restaurant closed its doors, seemingly for good.
Roughly 5 years later, with lots of renovations and rebranding, Tony and Mary Pizzi’s granddaughter and great-granddaughter reopened the family business with as many family recipes as possible, including the original Pizzi family pizza crust and sauce.

A friend took me on a pizza crawl of Conneaut, Ohio and this quickly became my favorite on the day. The atmosphere, the Za, Garage Beer on tap! We will back asap to eat again. Plus the hospitality was thru the roof!

Stopped in on our way back to Detroit from picking my girls daughter up from college. Place is super clean, very friendly, spoke with the owners while we waited for our pizza! Great people and the pizza was amazing!

New owners reopened this pizza restaurant after being closed for a few years. They have been packed for a few weeks since opening. We walked the 6 houses down the street and had dinner there tonight. The place is super clean and looks great with the fresh paint and new wall pictures. We had an appetizer (bread & oil), a pizza (JD special – SO GOOD!! Will get it again after trying a few other ones on the menu that sounder good) and then shared a desert called Spumonte (OMG so good! Three layers of HARD FROZEN ice cream. Top is chocolate then mint then strawberry). Without our beers the check would have been $30 for the appetizer, pizza and dessert.

Food and service were great! Loved the pizza. And thank you for having cold draft beer, that alone is worth 5 stars! Will be back to try those meatballs we saw pass by a few times!

The Wheelers and their staff are absolutely wonderful. I have never had a bad piece of food from here. Everything is wonderful. The atmosphere takes you right back in time.
The homemade pizza has some of the best most vibrant flavors.
The meatballs and sauce let me tell you. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

My husband and I drive an hour just for the Nonni’s pizza! It’s the best white pizza we’ve ever had, you can really taste the quality of the ingredients! Service is top notch too!

Grandpa Pizzi’s legacy lives on!
It’s like they never left and have officially taken back their place as my favorite pizza place.
The Al-fredo Chicken pizza is phenomenal and the garlic bites have the perfect amount of garlic.
I’m so happy to have this place back with the original (and new) recipes!

Server was really good. The wait for the food was close to an hour but to get the menu it was almost 15 mins before someone even talked to us. The serving size was pretty small for the pasta dishes but the Torpedo looked like it was a good choice. Spaghetti and meatballs tasted alright.

Incredible pizza. We ordered four different kinds and couldn’t decide what was our favorite! The sweet and spicy was exceptional. We are already talking about coming back to the lake just for this place! Great service and very cool inside. The pictures of the family were a great touch!

Sorry but the pizza is nothing like before! I also miss the big salads they use to have. We have tried it twice now and no, miss the old Pizzis.
