I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now and I was so happy I had my first experience. This is a brand new slab pizza place serving delicious varieties of toppings on focaccia bread. I opted for the salami, the Italian sausage, and the pepperoni slice. They were all incredible and made me want to try more.

They also do incredible salads here with amazing ingredients . I went for the Caesar and it was delicious and fresh with lemon and homemade dressing. I also tried their tiramisu and would 10/10 order again. They also have homemade ice cream.

They also have ample indoor (upstairs and downstairs) and outdoor seating options, along with ♿ handicap accessible seating and restrooms.

Absolutely stunning! Everything about the food is amazing, the service is great, and the soft serve is to die for. Super creative pizza slabs! The French onion is my favorite!

For anyone who loves to travel for food, Grandpa Joe’s Slaberia feels like the kind of discovery you’d stumble upon in a tucked-away European neighborhood — except it’s right here in Winston-Salem. Set inside a beautifully restored Coca-Cola bottling factory, the space alone is worth the visit. The vibe is casual but elevated, with indoor and outdoor seating and a sunny courtyard that’s perfect after a bike ride or weekend stroll.

The star here, of course, is the focaccia “slab” — thick, golden, and impossibly crisp on the outside while pillowy inside, layered with gourmet toppings like Italian sausage, pepperoni, and roasted vegetables. Each bite manages to be both rustic and refined. Pair it with one of their super-fresh salads, and you’ve got a meal that’s hearty yet balanced.

This isn’t New York–style thin crust — it’s a category all its own. Bold, creative, and just plain delicious. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive, which made the whole experience even better. Grandpa Joe’s is a standout — a welcome surprise and a must-try for anyone who appreciates thoughtful food in a cool setting.

Beautiful evening to sit outside and enjoy the patio. The slab pizza we had was delicious. We got a mushroom and a Burrata. The crust is what makes it And good quality ingredients
We also got a Caesar salad, but that was just OK A lot of romaine and dressing, no croutons for $10. Next time we will just enjoy the pizza. We will be back!

Great space with plenty of seating both inside and outside!

Some of the pizzas are excellent like the Burrata and the Mushroom. Other toppings like the pepperoni was just okay. Def worth checking out 🙂

Very clean, very friendly, very fast. I fully expected this place to have good pizza but my expectations should have been higher! The pizza was thick with a crunchy bottom, and perfectly cooked. The flavors are awesome and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Tried Gpa Joe’s for the first time. Pizza meats and flours are made by them and it shows! Amazing taste, texture and flavors! Served by the slice. Will definitely come again to sample other slices!

Bad…..Once you get out your car there is a sewage or propane leak. Its nice looking place till you realize there isnt enough seating. There should be cause Id rather stayed home. A PB&J would have been more satisfying because I already know what I’m getting. The pizza was very disappointing. Tasted like undercooked Pillsberry biscuits with plain tasting cheese on top. If you go to Texas roadhouse and order a drink and get some free bread, it would be more satisfying. Instead, you pay a pricey fee for nothing. Two pieces of pizza, a beer and a sprite cost $36. I can feed six people at Domino’s Pizza for the same price, And most likely still have pizza left over. The worst frozen pizza you can get would probably be on par with the taste with this place. And watch out for the staff, If they forget to put something on your pizza, cause I guess they allow you to have extra toppings they will take your pizza away from you and still charge you. Then they will play games with you and say that they’re going to give you your money back, but they don’t cause they will tell you that their system is broken. They will try to get your whole entire credit card number. This place is very very disappointing. I would give this no stars, but it would not let me post the review.

This wasn’t just going out to eat. It was AN EXPERIENCE.
The Parmesan ALONE made me and my mate double take. More of that please!
And something to note…this isn’t pizza. It’s a slaberia after all. The Italian sausage and mushroom were phenomenal!

Thank you to Grandpa Joe

I enjoyed the caesar salad and my slab of pepperoni pizza. However, the pizza sauce or crust don’t really stand out as better than average. About the same quality of slice as anywhere else and the pizza lacks an adequate amount, in my opinion, of sauce and cheese. Not to mention, they flip the kiosk around to charge a tip after you pick your slab and pay yourself at the counter. Asinine but oh well.
