Grand Slam Pizza delivers. The “Going Yard!” Vegetable pie is refreshingly bright; crisp onions, artichokes, peppers, and an ideal sauce-to-cheese balance. Pizza’s come in sizes mini to large. The Spicy Fried Green Beans are flat-out addictive. Chicago tavern style comes in hot, spicy, and doused in giardiniera flown in from Chicago. The space is family and sports-fan friendly with wide-open indoor and outdoor seating plus arcade games; easy place to stay longer than planned.

I Googled pizza parlors for families with kids and GSP came up. Given the reviews we drove 20 minutes to give a chance to an owner run establishment. It sounded like a proper old school pizza parlor like I grew up going to, with great pizza and an arcade to entertain the kids.
Edit: I appreciate the thoughtful response, it certainly demonstrates a true concern. A refund isn’t necessary, we enjoyed the pizza and it sounds like we should come back and give GSP another shot. Which we will be sure to do
The place is run down, chairs were so dirty I hesitated to sit on them. I mean all of the chairs were filthy and stained. Half the arcade games would take your 4 quarters and not work, but the worker explained that they didn’t run the games so after he gave us a refund for the first game, the next 3 times were on us.
The most disappointing thing was that the owner, went and talked to a group of regulars just behind us, but loud enough for us to hear the entire conversation. This guy couldn’t stop complaining about his workers and how he had just fired a guy and then went on and on. Super negative conversation. Clearly he was totally unaware or didn’t care .
We will not be back. Pizza was pretty good, but not good enough to make up for the restaurant.

Delicious pizza made from the finest & freshest ingredients! Meatballs were delightful too. Great selection of beer for the adults and arcade games for the kids. The staff is super cool, hard working, and very accommodating.

Review update **** I went back in since I had my family in town and I was super excited about showing them this pizza place since it’s just a small walk away . There was a young aged asian girl who attended us . She was not very friendly from start to finish. She answered questions with an attitude, never smiled . Overall it was some of the most unfriendly awkward service I’ve ever experienced, just a bummer my parents had to experience it too on their first visit .pizza was still great though

I love this place takes me back to the old school pizza places where we would have our team parties, arcade is awesome! I love the crunch from the pizza they have a family environment sometimes they argue but it’s all love. Beer selection is great love the way the rotate the taps and the owner one word is described him “awesome”

This was my first time trying Grand Slam Pizza. Their ingredients are really good and I had their Going Yard Vege and Dirty Bird (Buffalo chicken) sandwich! I highly recommend if you want to try a high quality pizza in Vista! The sizes are quite big too. I got a medium!

This is by far our new favorite eatery. Very good food, very good craft brew selection and all at at great price. Plenty of big screens to watch your favorite games on. 8 miles from our house but we’ll worth the drive.

Inside is a bit rundown down, ie seats have lost their cushion. Bathrooms need a good cleaning or paint job, maybe both.
Tommy Lasorda sandwich was stuffed full of Italian meats. Quite satisfying.
Hubby had the Meatball sandwich. Texture was nice, not soggy and nice sauce. He enjoyed himself. Choice of chips or pasta salad as a side. Pasta salad could used a little more seasoning but not overcooked.
Beer battered fries looked good. Wish I had room to try them.

Great taps, all local microbreweries (Stone, Burgeon, Mother Earth, Ebullition…) to name a few.
The pizza’s fresh and features a crispy crust, real mozzarella cheese.
The Pepperoni Pizza is a good staple, if you are a little hungrier than usual get a Bases Loaded is the way to go.
The owners are super friendly and accommodating
