I am genuinely disappointed by our recent dining experience at Grand Floridian Café.

I have been visiting Walt Disney World since I was a child, and the Grand Floridian has always been the one resort I had never experienced. It was long considered the pinnacle of Disney luxury—something special, elegant, and worth the splurge. Decades later, we finally had the opportunity to dine here using the Disney Dining Plan, and we were truly excited. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of expectations.

Throughout our trip, we noticed a recurring and uncomfortable trend at several restaurants: visible disappointment from servers the moment the Disney Dining Plan was mentioned. As someone who works in the service industry and understands the importance of gratuity, I found this especially frustrating. The dining plan very clearly does not include tips, and guests are shown receipts indicating what gratuity would have been. Still, there was a noticeable shift in attitude at many locations once the plan was disclosed. Before the meal even began, I was viewed to be a “non-tipper.”

At the Grand Floridian Café, this issue was especially pronounced. My partner and I both noticed our server visibly roll their eyes when we said we were using the dining plan. From that moment on, the service felt rushed, dismissive, absent, and markedly different from the service being provided to nearby tables. Our drinks sat empty for extended periods despite the server passing our table repeatedly, and interactions felt curt and uninterested. Meanwhile, other tables received attentive, friendly, and engaging service.

Despite this, we still tipped 20%. However, it was difficult not to feel unwelcome and treated as lesser diners simply because of how we were paying.

As for the food: we did purchase two appetizers outside of the dining plan—the French onion soup and the birria tacos—which were genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, that was where the positives ended.

The entrées were extremely underwhelming. My partner ordered the Cajun pasta, which was edible but completely forgettable. I ordered the New York strip steak and was shocked by how poor it was. The steak was thin, lacked seasoning or flavor, and was cooked well done despite being ordered medium rare. The pesto added nothing- it simply tasted like cooking oil-, the plate was overwhelmed with greens, the fingerling potatoes were mushy (though still the best part of the dish), and the asparagus was undercooked and nearly raw. As someone who works in a steakhouse and truly appreciates a good steak, this was one of the most flavorless and disappointing steaks I’ve had in a very long time.

When it came time for dessert, I asked if the crème brûlée could be boxed to go—something other Disney restaurants had accommodated without issue. The response was abrupt and dismissive, as though the request itself was unreasonable. I understand that crème brûlée is cooked in a very specific dish, and If it truly could not be done, that would have been understandable, but the delivery was unnecessarily rude.

Overall, this experience was deeply disappointing—not just because of the food or the service, but because of what the Grand Floridian has represented for so many years. This restaurant did not feel luxurious, welcoming, or special in any way. In fact, it felt the opposite. For better steak and far better service, there are countless other options on Disney property—including quick-service locations. Yeah, I said it.

Sadly, this was a long-awaited experience that did not live up to even the most basic expectations. I will not be returning.

Very cute brunch and dinner place inside the Grand Floridian. You do not have to be staying at the resort to eat here. Reservations can be made on the Disney app.

This restaurant is known for being one of the best options to eat at all Disney World resorts.
The service was great and the menu selection was good. I loved the passion fruit guava French toast and the complimentary biscuits. I thought the menu could’ve had more “magic”, the only “magical” item was the waffle shaped like a Mickey (which you can honestly get for free at any hotel offering breakfast in this area of Florida.

Even then, the chicken and waffle looked plain? It was literally a piece of fried chicken on top of a Mickey waffle. The cutest menu item is probably the fruit bowl (with sorbet) decorated with flowers.

My main issue is that part of the fried chicken and the steak were RAW. I am a girl that loves rare steak, so I’ve ordered it medium rare, but it was so underdone and blue that even I couldn’t cut it. (Photos attached) The fried chicken being raw is inexcusable honestly. But our server was kind enough to take the fried chicken off of our receipt.

I wonder if this place is highly praised just because it’s in the beautiful Grand Floridian, if this existed outside of Disney…I would not come back

This was our last day at the Grand Floridian so we ended our stay with Breakfast! The food was good basically bacon and eggs and toast. The service seemed stretched but i could have been the hour of day about 9 am. Would we go back yes to try lunch and dinner if we stay on property again. The bus staff were on it clearing tables picking up empty dishes.

We came here to celebrate our 37th anniversary was very well taking care of. Our water Johnny was exceptional. The food very well presented. Family friendly. We were very happy to choose a such beautiful and pleasant place to be. Just a bit noise at times not something to stop us to cane back.

The food is great. We really liked the food! Our server was good. She took care of us and even shared some valuable recommendations. The restaurant itself is odd. The tables and chairs are “off” somehow. It has an odd feeling that is difficult to quantify. That’s just how I feel about the place. If you are only dining here, you should know that you will park 2 tenths of a mile from the resort on the other side of the main road. I’m sure this is to keep people from parking at the hotel and using the monorail as though they are hotel guests. The parking pass is 3 hours long, which is more than enough time to enjoy your meal and your walk. I’m trying to be honest about the way things are in March 2025.

My daughter and I went for brunch. What a delicious delight it was. Our waitress Karen was so sweet. Although we didn’t get their names, the youngmen who brought out our food were also very nice. We started off with our appetizers, which was really delicious. Then our entrees were so good and plated really nice. The decor in the Grand Floridian is so pretty. We saw the cool chocolate Easter decorations. I have shared all the pictures for your delight. We will definitely be going back for brunch.

May be the best sit down brunch I have had! Beautiful setting, and five star Disney service! The fruit salad was amazing! Chicken and Vanilla French toast (not on menu ) were yummy. My wife had the classic Mickey waffle! Had a nice little treat for my birthday as well. Even had many gluten free options for our daughter. A must-do for brunch!
