Mike and I stopped in on a blustery day and were instantly warmed by the cozy atmosphere and incredible food at The Grand Finale.

Every course was a hit — the duck was rich and flavorful, the beef wellington was cooked to perfection, and the appetizers hit all the right notes. And don’t even get us started on dessert… absolutely to die for.

From start to finish, it was one of those meals you talk about long after you leave. We’ll definitely be back — highly recommend!

Grand Finale Bistro Chez is an absolute treasure in Spring Lake.

The atmosphere is warm and elegant, the service is attentive without being overbearing, and the food is nothing short of spectacular.

We ordered the Beef Wellington and the Beef Brisket Bourguignon—both were showstoppers. The Wellington was perfectly executed with tender beef wrapped in flaky pastry, while the Bourguignon was rich, hearty, and deeply flavorful, the kind of dish that makes you slow down and savor every bite. For dessert, the chocolate cake was decadent and indulgent, and the carrot cake was moist, spiced just right, and topped with the kind of frosting that makes you close your eyes in happiness.

The wine list and cocktails are equally impressive, making it the perfect spot for brunch, date night, or a celebratory dinner. A must-visit—you’ll want to come back again and again.

A hidden gem in Spring Lake, Grand Finale Bistro combines small town charm, welcoming midwest great staff hospitality with a curated wine and drinks selection, topped with a delightful menu experience. Needless to say it is one of our favorite restaurants. Oh, and don’t forget the delicious croissants and French macaroons for the road!

Super cute cafe in Spring Lake that offers up coffee, pastries, meals, and alcohol! Indoor and outdoor seating, good service, and good food. Party tried the chicken piccata and the blackened salmon. Both were large portion sizes and prepared very well (lots of flavor). Also ended with a sweet treat (triple chocolate brownie) which was also very good. Overall, a nice place if you’re looking for a spot near the lakeshore.

Insane how amazing this place was. I rarely leave Google reviews but this one had to be done. I drove out from Holland to try Grand Finale after a recommendation from a friend and this was the best meal I’ve had in the past year. Jake, the chef, came out to deliver his special personally – shoutout to the fisherman’s pie, I’ve never eaten anything like that before but it was so good, I’m going to try to make it myself now!

Every time I looked at another table, they were smiling and laughing with the staff taking care of them too. You could tell the entire restaurant was happy to be there. The collective energy, even on a Thursday night, was a really fun experience to be a part of.

Overall the food is fantastic. This review is of the dinner we had but the breakfast quiche and other breakfast options are delicious. We all shared plates, started with a mushroom crostini which was so delicious. The scallops, a bit expensive, but were perfectly cooked. The parsnip puree and grilled cauliflower complimented the scallops very well. The crab cakes had a delicious remoulade. I personally prefer bigger crab pieces but it was delicious! I’ve never had fish dumpling and glad we tried this as it was very savory. I liked that it had a little crisp on the outside, the Gruyère added a nice rich flavor too. I would’ve have liked a little more of the lobster sauce but it may have been my favorite dish of the night.

I think it’s reasonably priced, the night we went they were short staffed but Justin filled in with service and also explained several of the dishes which made the experience even better. I love to have this option in Spring Lake, I’d put this against any other fine dining in experience in Chicago or definitely GR. Thanks Justin!

5 stars – A culinary gem in Spring Lake!

I finally had the chance to dine at Grand Finale, and let me just say—this place is truly something special.

We started with the escargot, served sizzling in garlic butter with the perfect crusty bread for dipping. It set the tone for the whole evening—decadent, flavorful, and executed with precision. We also shared a charcuterie board that was beautifully arranged with a mix of house-made accompaniments and artisan cheeses. Every bite felt thoughtful and balanced.

But the Beef Wellington—wow. Hands down the best I’ve had. The pastry was golden and crisp, the beef tender and medium rare throughout, and the mushroom duxelles added a rich, earthy depth. You can tell the chef isn’t just cooking; he’s crafting an experience. We asked for a wine pairing and were blown away. Their wine list is curated by the chef himself, and his recommendation was spot-on—elevating the dish rather than overpowering it.

For dessert, I couldn’t resist the gluten-free key lime pie, and honestly, if they hadn’t told me it was gluten-free, I never would’ve known. Creamy, tart, and smooth with a nutty crust that I’m still dreaming about. We also took home a box of macaroons—pistachio and raspberry were our favorites. Light, chewy, and delicately sweet.

The space is cozy and elegant, the staff are warm and knowledgeable, and you can feel the passion in everything from the plating to the playlist. Grand Finale isn’t just a dinner—it’s a destination. We’re already planning our next visit.

Grand Finale was first known in West Michigan for its amazing breads and baked goods. While it’s still true that they serve lovely pastries, coffee, breakfast and lunch items by day, their extraordinary, French inspired dinner menu is something that has to be experienced to fully appreciate what a rare gem this place is. Eight of us dined at Grand Finale Bistro and Cafe recently and every one of us had what we each considered the “best” thing on the menu. Chef Justin spent some time at our table explaining some of his most memorable menu items and how he has worked with fellow chefs in France over the years to perfect them. If you haven’t tried this off-the-path local treasure, be sure to put it on your bucket list for 2026. The food, service and atmosphere will leave you wanting more.

This bistro is a hidden gem in Spring Lake. Whether you live in the area or are just visiting, Grand Finale is a must try.

We absolutely love everything Chef Justin does here: from breakfast quiches with delicious buttery flaky crust; to chicken salad on the best croissant this side of Michigan; happy hour appetizers on the outdoor patio paired with wine recommendations from Ann (the wonderful sommelier on staff); to seared sea scallops, coffee-encrusted pork tenderloin, and beef wellington for a date night dinner; traditional macarons or an amazing Chartreuse creme brulee for dessert. We’ve tried it all, and trust me–you can’t go wrong here.

And if you have a chance, I recommend attending the wine dinners–Justin is able to get award-winning vintners from the US and around the globe to come here, to this adorable small town nestled near the shores of Lake Michigan, and share their wines and knowledge, and always paired with the most excellent food!
