We visited Grand Patron Mexican Restaurant in Virginia Beach and had mixed feelings. The food was actually really good — flavorful, fresh, and nicely presented. The ambiance is also lovely, with a vibrant and welcoming vibe that makes you want to relax and enjoy your meal.
Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our order was brought out wrong more than once, and it took a while to get things corrected. When the manager finally came over, we expected some effort to make things right, but instead, we got a shrug and no real resolution. It was disappointing, especially since the food itself was worth coming for.
If they can get their service up to the level of their food and atmosphere, this place could be great. Until then, just know you might have a frustrating experience even if the meal tastes good.

Delicious food and wonderful service! We sat outside on the porch with our small dog. The chips and salsa were so yummy and we had meals that we had never had before- lobster quesadilla and a piña loco which was a mix of meat in a pineapple! The service was also great! Our server was well informed and super nice! Very attentive! The food and drinks were amazing! 10 out of 10 will be back again!

The customer service was great, and the appetizers and sides were really good — so were the drinks! I ordered the carne asada, which was okay but nothing special. The location is really nice though, right in front of the beach, which makes for a great atmosphere.

Maria was our server. She is the bomb! Very attentive and friendly. The seasoning on all the food was amazing and everything was fresh and hot. Servings were plentiful! Salsa is superb and cheese dip was so creamy!

Great experience. My husband bought all the photos from the photographer. Grabbed a quick dinner and some drinks. Fun atmosphere for a birthday. Had a great time. Will definitely come back. Ohh and the churro doughnut 100/100!!

I was Wowed! By this Mexican restaurant that had a large menu and great atmosphere including a covered porch outdoor dining area. The service was good, the food was exceptional and the cocktails were fantastic! Did I mention they have a ridiculous blown glass purse blueberry and tequila cocktail?! It’s a Great place to celebrate a birthday. I can’t wait to go back!!

My friend and I decided to eat dinner at Gran Patron while staying in a nearby hotel at Virginia Beach. We sat on the beachside outdoor dining porch where we could enjoy the view of the ocean. The service was very good. The hostess was quick to seat us and let us choose our table. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. The food was amazing. I had the Tilapia Vallarta and they did not shrimp on the scallops and shrimp that came with it. The sauce was just spicy enough to give it a little kick without going overboard. And I’m so glad I decided to order the margarita because despite it not being served with salt around the rim, the way I like it, this was one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. If we weren’t leaving to go back home tomorrow, I’d definitely return fo another great meal and another delicious margarita. I highly recommend giving this reasonably priced, and wonderful cuisine a try if you’re staying at Virginia Beach.

Best Mexican restaurant if you are in the area. The vibes were on point! The food was great the guac was super good. Right the next to the beach for views parking is off the street and very durable. Our waiter was personable they also have a photographer that comes around to take photos. I thought this was such a cute idea. They also give you a complimentary print out photo with the option to purchase additional copies. Bathrooms were clean such a good spot!!
