Good food at Gran Agave! It was very busy on a Friday night when we went, and the wait for a table was about 30 minutes, but we enjoyed a huge, delicious margarita while waiting. The enchiladas were tasty, though they didn’t come with rice and beans, so I ordered those on the side. They also have mariachis walking around playing music, which was a fun touch. Service was good, and the food came out quickly. Overall, a solid spot for a lively Mexican dinner!

We’ve been coming to Grand Agave in Brandon for years and have always enjoyed it. The food is consistently good, the drinks are solid, and it’s a place we’ll keep coming back to.

Personal favorites are the chorizo queso and a monster margarita, both of which we order regularly. The fajitas and enchiladas are also reliable choices if you’re deciding what to get.

They sometimes have live music, and while that can feel overwhelming at smaller restaurants, this space is large enough that it usually doesn’t overpower the experience. The atmosphere is clean and upscale, and they have a very nice bar area.

Service can be a little slow at times, though not on every visit and the wait times can also be pretty long. Overall, it’s a dependable spot for good Mexican food, drinks, and a nice night out.

What we loved:
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is ecstatic- the place is beautifully decorated with lots of attention to detail, lots of colors, and you feel like you’ve taken a door into another culture. They also use hundreds of bottles in different colors, shapes and sizes to create a colorful experience. The restaurant is pretty big and has many tables inside and outside. If you want a table outside you can be seated pretty quickly but to sit inside, on a Friday night, when they have live music, the wait could be over an hour long. When we got there the wait was 45 minutes but while we were sitting there we heard them tell another family that the way it had grown to an hour and 10 minutes.

We were surprised to see some pretty wonderful prices for very decent plates of food. Considering we were having dinner and the local prices at other restaurants, their prices are excellent. The food came out pretty quickly after we ordered it- it was hot and tasted good. The Mariachi band came around playing music and were absolutely amazing entertainers, musicians and singers.
We would go again.

What was “meh” about the experience:

When we got the bill for the food, price was great for a group of four but then there was this mystery service charge of 18% which was separate from a tip. Come to find out this is something charged by some restaurants to help them with other costs or employee wages…. But why not put the added cost into the menu like everyone else does And so that your patrons see exactly what they will be paying in the end? Why instead opt to give your guests a surprise fee at the end? It was an unpleasant and unwelcome surprise…. It felt sneaky- I’m just thinking of other people who count every penny in planning for a budget- this would have thrown them off.

We kept seeing that they sat other people ahead of us who had gotten there after us- come to find out they sent us a texts but we were not aware of because of the loud atmosphere. However, we were 3 ft in front of the hostess- she did not bother in calling our name to see if we were there (a due diligence) So it wasn’t until we went up to the front to find out why they were sitting other people in front of us that they said “were ready for you”.

Once we sat down, the waiter was alright but spoke pretty quickly and softly so we had to ask him to repeat himself a few times.

We got chips and salsa but received no plates to put these on. Our food was delivered and we had to wait to get our silverware… Just little things they could still work on wich affect the experience.

The place is very nice. We had high expectations while waiting. It took a long time for the food to come. I thought that was a good sign, but the food was well below average. Good atmosphere and nice workers, but the reason to go there is to eat, so I would personally not go back.

We absolutely loved being serenaded by Vicente!!!! There were 7 people in our party. No wait to sit and drinks/food came out fast! The portions were huge and full of flavor! Fabiola took good care of our table! She made sure to get a group photo for us and that we had everything we needed! One of the best meals we have had in a while and can’t wait to visit again!!!!!!

Quality chain tex mex style food. Went here before a cruise. The hostess was great, got us seated quickly and salsa. Our server greeted us quickly, got us a beer and food order but never checked on us again. While she dropped off food, she didn’t give us an opportunity to order more beer or refill water. There was no check back to see how our food was. I had to ask the hostess to get us attention to refill water, get the bill, and ask for salsa. The server apologized but no additional follow up was done. The food was good enough, step up from chilli’s. It wasn’t spicy but I like it hot, there’s a habanero salsa that’ll help if you request it. I’d be willing to bet if I were to have another visit that the service was an anomaly.

I don’t even know where to begin on how to describe the experience we had at this restaurant today.. what an amazing visit! Walking in we were blown away by the ambiance! It’s as if you have stepped in to a Mexican neighborhood. Our server Sonny was amazing and friendly! We also had an opportunity to chat with the owner who was genuine, generous and all around incredible! We enjoyed learning about the different tequilas, how the best ingredients are used in the making of the menu, and stories about the people who make up the restaurant! We were treated like family and felt so at home. Thank you Gran Agave Riverview for a wonderful afternoon!

Always a pleasure to back!

I come here whenever I’m in town, and it never disappoints. The food is always delicious, and the portion sizes are great, you definitely leave full. They also really understand gluten allergies, which makes ordering stress free.

The mariachi band brings such a fun vibe, and Sonny is the best! He’s friendly, funny, and just makes the whole experience even better.

Always a great time here. Definitely recommended!

Thank you, Sonny!

Absolutely loved my experience at this Mexican restaurant! The food was delicious and served in generous portions. Our server, Lupita, was incredibly friendly and attentive. The margaritas and sangria were exquisite. The ambiance truly captured the essence of an authentic Mexican village. Would highly recommend! You must try the flan, it was amazing!

Idk what happened but I used to come here so much and loved this place but it has gone downhill. First off our server was new she took 10 minutes to get our drinks and her coworkers instead of helping her out because she’s new and obviously lost they just sat in a corner talking. I’m a restaurant bartender/manager and we believe in team work and helping out others. My food was terrible. Didn’t even eat it but I still paid for it and tipped my server well. We will not be back here.
