Worth a detour for the real backroads, county, real deal North Carolina BBQ. Well-loved and lived-in, spotless spot with indoor diner tables and covered outdoor picnic tables and a brisk carry out. We went classic pulled pork with iconic mop sauce, vinegary and peppery. Lovely family owned business. Home made desserts that were excellent.

Great Eastern NC BBQ. TRU-CUE at its best. Small very simple restaurant. Short menu. Chopped pork, smoked chicken, great vegetable sides. I judge BBQ restaurants by their woodpile and Grady’s has a doozy. It’s a little out of the way but well worth the effort.

I was in the area and decided to check this place out. Food was ok, BBQ could use a lil more flavor. BBQ chicken was ok, sauce was good. Please stay away from the collards, they are really NASTY!! The slaw also needs a little improvement. The hush puppies were delicious. The sweet tea was also good. Also it was very hot in there and prepare to wait. This is also a CASH ONLY establishment.

We came all the way from Canada to try Grady’s BBQ and we were NOT disappointed!! This is an amazing family and staff. The most kindest souls I ever met. The food was also delicious and tasty. There was a good variety of different things to try and the smoked meat and fried chicken were wonderful. It’s a trip I recommend for anyone looking for a great meal and experience!!

My wife and I stopped at Grady’s BBQ in Dudley, NC on Saturday during our road trip. It was amazing. These ladies Gerri, Sharon, and the whole family there were so welcoming and wonderful. We felt so loved and appreciated, like we were part of the family. The food was totally spectacular. If you like BBQ, you must go there if you’re anywhere near eastern NC. Their vinegar sauce has a significantly potent but pleasant pepper heat and vinegar tang. The sweet potato pie was so incredible we almost cried. So impressive. It’s no wonder they have stayed in business for so long. They’re worth a detour as a bucket list BBQ destination.

The people and the service were lovely; food was inexpensive. The fried chicken is great and the collards are on point. But, I still don’t get East NC BBQ. Ground pork with no smoke or bark and a vinegar sauce that lacks any flavor? Also the potato salad was really mayo-y in a not enjoyable way. Overrated in my opinion.
