Fun night out! The views at sunset were amazing! Loved the whole vibe! Sit outside on a nice sunny evening! Drinks were great too!

I always love visiting the Rock Bar at the top of the Graduate Hotel – it’s such a great perch overlooking the north side of campus. Popped in on 5/3/25 for a few drinks – the place was busy but I found a seat on the outdoor patio. Friendly, fairly quick service given how busy they were. I always love coming up here when I’m in town and can’t wait to come back again – the view is great!

AWFUL STAFF – will not be returning

Walked out of the main dining room at 11:40 for 2 minutes to pick up a phone call and the security man Eddie Baldwin wouldn’t let me go back in to grab my things OR finish my drink I paid for! He slammed the door in my face and was terribly disrespectful. Had to wait for my friends to bring out my things for me.

In the mean time, I called the number listed for the Graduate Rock Bar and the woman who picked up the phone told me she is the lobby and she can’t connect me with the bar and hung up on me.

I was really excited to try this place, never returning and neither are my 6 friends I brought with me tonight.

Phenomenal brunch, friendly atmosphere with personable staff and delicious food. One of my favorite places to view the city, have a drink, and a bite to eat. I’ve always enjoyed lunch here. Recently tried brunch and loved it. We tried the banana bread french toast, burger Benedict, and chilaquiles. The banana bread French toast was the perfect amount of sweet and the burger Benedict was savory and very flavorful. The chilaquiles were also delicious with great flavor. I also had a mimosa, which paired well with everything Highly recommend as a favorite brunch spot.

I came for brunch at the Rock Bar which has the most amazing views of the city! The service was excellent and the chocolate croissant was to die for. Like truly amazing! Get one with whatever else you order.
The friends I went with both got the recommended chicken and waffles which was really good; sweet, spicy, crispy, gooey – it was everything. The chilaquiles I had were less impressive and not traditional, I would steer clear from those in the future.

Great spot in EL but bouncers are a bummer

UFC 324 and the bouncers closed the bar 5 minutes before actual close time. Chose to make snide and derogatory comments on everyone’s way out which is kind of surprising considering they’re a hired company and not locals.

Great bar but the bouncers could use an upgrade. No need for insults on the way out

I had never been before but went after being mildly curious for a couple years and was pretty disappointed. I was expecting a classier vibe but it was very loud and crowded. My cocktail was over $20 after a 20% (the lowest option on the handheld card readers)- I ordered a gimlet and it sucked, it came out visibly wrong a gimlet should come up in a coupe glass, this came on ice in a plastic cup, and for being over $16 with well gin also didn’t contain fresh citrus. Unacceptable for a drink at this price point in a town like Lansing. I was with a group of 4 and the music was so loud we had to yell to talk to eachother.

Very cool place, and very accommodating staff! Went above and beyond for us! The kitchen also made a great meat and cheese board!!

I’ve enjoyed this bar for many years now but will never return, unfortunately. My group arrived minutes before me, and when I got upstairs the staff refused to allow me in because I did not have a hotel reservation. Speaking with the staff downstairs, they claimed “the Rock is a separate company” and refused to help me. These two facts cannot both be true at the same time, and it’s apparent neither employee had interest in doing their job or assisting me. I’ve never had this problem before, but I won’t again either. My money will be spent elsewhere.
