We had a delicious breakfast at Gracie’s. Our server was wonderful, and quick to refill coffee and take our order. The food was great as was the atmosphere. Would love to return the next time I’m in Portland.

A dear friend and and I go to Gracie’s every Christmas for breakfast! This year, we had the crêpes and they were above perfection! Our server was also amazing, and her service was exceptional!!

My wife and I attended the Glamorama drag brunch, and had a pretty fun time. The food was excellent, particularly the avocado toast; service was competent, although they seemed to be scrambling to keep up most of the time (not surprising, since it was a packed house), and there were a couple minor flubs; we received the house salads with champagne vinaigrette (which were awesome!) instead of our avocado toast at first…but then ALSO received our proper order shortly thereafter, so that is a mistake in our favor – no harm, no foul.

The menu is a fixed, three-course deal: appetizer, entrée and dessert, for $100 ($200 for VIP meet-and-greet with the queens after the meal, if you feel so inclined), and runs (ostensibly) from 10:00am to noon, although our particular event started and ended late. Good thing, because we were a little late ourselves!

Between the two of us, we also ordered the fried rice (excellent!) and the benedict (also excellent!), and were both stuffed before the third, and final, dessert course arrived. Multiple boxes were needed to take home the leftovers to our toddler son, who devoured everything we brought to him!

Bring a wad of $1s, because you’re going to need them! There will be multiple queens doing their thang, multiple times, over the whole two-hour affair, so come prepared! Street parking is available, if you are lucky; otherwise, there is a private lot charging $30.99, reduced to .99 cents with validation from the hotel (requires an event ticket or room reservation).

My husband and I live in Portland and have been to Gracie’s for breakfast three times. The dining room is beautiful, and the food and coffee have mostly been very good, though the experience hasn’t been consistent.

They make their own English muffins for the eggs Benedict, which is a nice touch, but on one visit they seemed day-old at best, possibly previously frozen. The $15 waffle on another visit was unfortunately not really edible. We also experienced a visit where the (only) oven was out, making two items on the limited, but otherwise appealing, menu unavailable.

I understand there are new owners, and this place has real potential. The staff is friendly and means well, but service felt chaotic and too casual for the level of ambiance; more structure and uniforms would help. With better management and consistency, this could become a standout dining spot, on par with Seattle’s best like the George.

This review is for brunch only at Gracie’s. We had dinner previously and I would give higher rating on their dinner.

For brunch, we had lobster Benedict and ham Benedict. Lobster was good but Ham was dried. The egg was slightly over cooked. The potato side was a little greasy. Overall, the food was average. With many other good brunch options in Portland, I will have hard time to find good reason to come back.

On the good note, the service was great. Our server was very attentive.

Today I went to Gracies for high tea and left with anything but a good impression.

We were a party of 2 and arrived on time for our reservation. Once we were seated, no one greeted our table for over 30 minutes. Once we were greeted, our server told us we would be helped shortly. 15 more minutes passed and we finally placed our order. Meanwhile, people who came at the same time or after us already had their tea and treat tower.

Once the tea and treat tower arrived, we were not impressed by the quality or quantity, it looked thrown together. We have been to many high tea places in Portland and this one was surely the worst. Save your money and find a local tea house instead of this restaurant.

Service: 0/5
Food: 2.5/5
Atmosphere: 4/5

First visit to the Hotel Deluxe in Portland, Oregon, which gave us the chance to eat at Gracie’s. This is the on-premises restaurant for the hotel, serving Breakfast/Brunch until 2 pm, with no dinner service. We had a party of 3 for a late morning breakfast and were seated right away.

Service was prompt at the start but diminished from there with slow and disjointed service. As in many restaurants currently, it lacks from full and experience staff. Food was served hot, and all dishes were very well prepared and tasty, though 2 of 3 were delivered far in advance of the one. Kudos to the staff for recognizing the delay and bringing a complimentary muffin to the person waiting.

For food, the Avocado Toast was a smaller portion, with only 1 slice of bread for the sliced avocado and egg. Ordered both a Traditional and a Lobster Benedict, which the Lobster Benedict was far above better than the Traditional. Both benedicts had perfectly poached eggs, and uniquely a house made “English” muffin, more like a Johnny Cake, which was delicious.

Overall, Gracie’s is a convenient place to grab a morning/afternoon meal in the hotel and would return to try something else.

Update: Visited Gracie’s the following morning, and service was worst with continued forgotten item, and the same disjointed service. The food was still delicious and had nice portions, with again the Lobster Benedict, Club Sandwich, and Waffle with a side of sausage links. (Note: No sugar free syrup is available)

Hint for visit: If you like Benedicts and seafood go the extra cost and go for the Lobster Benedict.

HIGH TEA IN PORTLAND

Our party of 5 had their high tea on a Sunday and all of us thought the majority of the food was excellent. My favorites were the scone with clotted cream & jam, the cucumber sandwich, ham toasty, and chocolate tart. I did not finish the shortbread cookie or lemon bar.

I loved their Smith tea selection and opted for the Lord Bergamot. They have sugar cubes and some sort of dairy product to go with the tea. It was delightful to sip the tea while eating the sweet bits,

The host was rude to our elderly mothers because they arrived 5 minutes before their scheduled reservation and made it clear our party could not be seated prior to the exact time. Their delivery was snotty and clearly without regard to the customer. The dining room was mostly empty and our table was clean/set. Very odd for a “posh” experience.

None of us ordered anything extra and we paid $78 per person including tip.

We had christmas buffet in the past which was good, so this year we made reservations several months in advance. There was no buffet, i ordered a bloody, they were out of bloody mary mix, i ordered steak and eggs. Someone came over a few minutes after our order was taken and told us she forgot to tell our server they were out of steak. After reading other reviews i noticed no responses, which tells me no one reads them, no one cares. I will never go back any day of the year.

This restaurant is so beautiful! Stayed at the hotel for a night. Had breakfast here and we love it. Excellent customer service, good vibes, and such an elegant-looking place.
The food varies on what you order. My fried rice seems to be missing a taste of soy sauce but overall, it is pretty tasty. Everything else was perfect as is!
Come back for afternoon tea and dinner when they reopen these services. !
