What disappointed us was not just the refusal, but the suggestion that we could “join chairs together” and lay the baby on them. That is unsafe — a baby could easily fall. It was surprising that such advice was given.
We accepted the table offered without arguing. Later, I asked for hot water to wash the baby’s bottle, but we were given only warm water.
During our entire dinner, the sofa tables we had requested remained empty. When we left around 7pm, they were still unoccupied. I mentioned this politely while paying the bill, but there was no real response.
Running a business in New Zealand means understanding community values — supporting families, elders, and people travelling with young children. We were not asking for luxury or special treatment, only basic empathy and common sense. Apart from this attached picture of onions being given.
Let me know if you need more clarification.
Responding you here,
Mr Girish,
Let’s be clear —
Please don’t explain how hospitality works. I have been in business for 11 years and understand reservations very well. What I don’t understand is why a simple, honest explanation wasn’t given at the time.
You were the one who suggested joining the chairs. Your CCTV footage will clearly confirm that your staff rearranged them. Suggesting that as a solution for a newborn’s safety is not reasonable.
If the table was truly reserved hours in advance while the restaurant was largely empty, then just say so clearly. There is no need to reshape the story afterward to look better publicly.
This is not about Google reviews. It’s about accountability and being honest with customers.
Thanks& Regards
My three friends and I had the pleasure of dining at Grace of India yesterday. the experience was truly remarkable. We began with Veg Manchurian and Garlic Paneer Tikka, both of which were absolutely delectable. For the main course; the Handi Daal was exceptional, with a rich depth of flavor that truly stood out. The Paneer Methi Malai was exquisite, both in taste and texture. Paired with warm buttery Garlic Naan. the meal was flawlessly executed. We indulged in Faluda, a refreshing and delightful sweet treat that provided the perfect finishing touch. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere exuded warmth and comfort. I highly recommend Grace of India to anyone in search of authentic high quality vegetarian Indian cuisine. I look forward to returning soon……:)
Dosa and chicken dosa is also great! We also tried their Chole bature, which was extremely good! Would love to come back again! If you love good Indian food, this place is a must visit!
