Welcome to Gov’s Fusion Cantina, we are so excited to be here. We have been looking for the right spot, and have we found it! We now call the Commons at Governor’s Village in Chapel Hill our home to stay! We are here to serve good honest food made and served with love and experience. We make a burger that makes us proud, we have some great local beers on tap, wines to pair with every entree, hand cut fries, loaded salads, handcrafted sandwiches and a world class hotdog. Nice vibe and lots of options on menu. We chose the bacon jam and pimento cheese burger and the bacon burger.
Place was recommended on social media. They had some good looking Mexican food on the menu that I’d like to try next time. Burger was good – could have used a little more flavor to the meat but what I really loved was the toasted brioche bun! It was a smaller bun which I loved even more because sometimes they can be so huge and take away from the burger. Fries were crunchy and yummy! Will definitely be back to try the Birria tacos next!

We actually came here for burgers. We did not try the burgers. Instead, we had the appetizer sampler with with extra sloppy fries (we had asked for extra crispy, but that’s fine), cheese quesadilla which was super cheesy, buffalo wings that were really good and the barbecue riblets which were also very good! My partner had a Bacardi and Coke And I had two different style IPAs. The service was really good, I’m not sure of our bartender’s name but we all had each other laughing all night and he was very diligent making sure that everything came out okay and was on top of everything. Pricing wasn’t too bad, we had only intended to spend a certain amount but of course we went over because the food was very good! It was good value for the money! Make sure you get the queso and chips, the chips are unique and very good! They fry them right there. They are not your average cantina tortilla chips.

My mom told me this was one of the best taco places she’s ever been to. Naturally, I walked in ready to be wowed, expecting a meal that would change my relationship with tortillas forever.
Unfortunately, that moment never came.
The food took about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive, which might not seem outrageous, but when you’re expecting greatness, the wait starts to feel a bit suspicious. I began to wonder if they were growing the cilantro in real time.
Our waiter was kind, helpful, and gave solid recommendations. No complaints on that front. The service was one of the better parts of the experience.
The food, however, didn’t quite live up to the legend. The tacos were well seasoned, but the tortillas were tougher than expected. The shrimp tacos were definitely the highlight of the meal, but they arrived without lime. A minor detail, but one that makes a noticeable difference when missing.
Also worth noting, they don’t offer complimentary chips. For a place with prices sitting comfortably above average, it feels like a small courtesy that should be part of the experience. Mi Cancun still has them beat there.
Overall, it was a decent meal. Solid flavors, great service, but for the price and the hype, I left feeling more underwhelmed than impressed. A fair four stars, but not the kind of place I’ll be rushing back to.

Great dinner on a road trip, wish we lived closer to make this a regular spot. Waitresses were both very nice and helpful, kitchen fast. Food delicious! 10/10 recommend the fries yummmmm

This place has such a great atmosphere and the service was beyond amazing. I had chicken strips and fries and my friend had the steak quesadillas and they were absolutely amazing to eat after a day of fishing. This restaurant is located 10 minutes from jordan lake so you can have fun and get a proper meal!

Great, local eats. Try out the newer menu items that feature birria tacos. Burgers and fries don’t disappoint. Fries sprinkled with coarse salt.
Burgers are juicy and perfectly cooked. Plenty for kids and adults alike. The owners are expanding to the space next door and should be a nice addition for larger group outings.

Love this place! Reliably friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and good value. I really want this place to succeed and continue to grow and experiment with their menu of American and Mexican classics! Favorites include the hot dogs, nachos, and birria tacos — delicious and comforting.

Food was so fresh, made today! They make their own tortillas and they are absolutely delicious. Everything we had was special. The margarita was even more delicious than most restaurants I’ve been to, made with fresh lime juice instead of pre-mixed. PLEASE TRY THEIR FUSION FOOD!

The atmosphere is fun with outdoor seating and yard games. We got the bacon burger, grilled chicken sandwich, and fries. A few things to improve on – the foosball table is broken (several players are loose), the connect four doesn’t work (the wooden chips don’t fit into the game slots), and the corn hole bean bags need washing (they’re mildew-y). The burger was average, and the chicken sandwich had mayo on it (even though it doesn’t say it on the menu). It’s also not as affordable as we’d like (burger is about $17). We’ll visit again, but these improvements would be great to see!
