Finally West Simi has a really good Chinese restaurant! Gourmet Palace is next to Baja Fresh. We tried 3 dishes. Cashew Chicken-very fresh and not oily, perfect amount of salt. Next Steamed Shrimp dumplings-comes with 4 very good! New York style Eggrolls the thick kind with pork, shrimp and veggies. Just like I remember from back East.
Very small dining area but new and nicely decorated. Service is top notch. Enjoy!

Great food and music!!! Ordered the NY egg rolls, Sui Mai and Har gow, walnut shrimp and kung pao chicken. Quality food, tasty. Will come back again! Sean was very attentive and answered all our questions.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but my experience was quite disappointing. While the waitress was friendly, she seemed overwhelmed and lacked essential skills, which made the service suffer. There were no napkins or forks on the table, and it was clear she was trying to manage everything on her own during the busy lunch hour on Monday.

My dining companion and I both ordered the lunch special, which had a reasonable price tag. However, the food quality was lacking. Our steamed entrees were nothing to rave about; the only highlight was the rice. Sadly, the vegetables and proteins were overcooked and mushy, and both soups we ordered tasted bland and oily. This was far from a gourmet experience. I genuinely believe that the restaurant needs to reevaluate its offerings. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend eating here.

Been eyeballing this new spot for a minute. Glad we finally got a chance to try it.. Its New. It’s modern. It’s clean. It’s pretty freaking good. Veggie options. Vegan options. Carnivore options. Thai Iced Tea was cold & perfectly sweet & creamy. Tofu was cooked perfect. So was everything else. Soup was hot. Flavorful. Fresh. Service was on point. They have lunch specials. Go there. No need to thank me.

We started with a thai ice tea and New York style egg rolls, the egg roll are crispy, stuffed with cabbage and BBQ pork, so delicious. We then ordered the orange chicken “crispy”. So good! The sauce has a kick and is so tasty. Then tried the honey walnut shrimp, again so delicious. 5 out 5! We can’t wait to return and try more dishes.

I visited this restaurant based on its high ratings.

I ordered the Chicken Dumplings and Szechuan Eggplant.

Here’s my breakdown:

(1) Ambiance – 1.5/5

Note that the restaurant closes between 3:00–4:00 PM, which is understandable since it’s typically a slow period. I arrived right at 4:00 PM and was immediately struck by how warm and lack of ventilation it was inside – it was a little bit suffocating. The server had to open the door to let cool air in. I genuinely wanted to leave right then and there, but decided to stick it out and try the food. I’m not sure whether the AC was working properly or it was only turned on, and I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must get during summer.

(2) Chicken Dumplings – 2/5
The dumplings were served warm but not hot, which was disappointing. They felt like they were made in a hurry — dim sum should always arrive hot and steamy. The taste also reminded me of something you’d pick up from a grocery store, which is never a good sign at a restaurant.

(3) Szechuan Eggplant – 3/5
The eggplant was decent but on the oily side. We only managed to eat a few pieces as it was really warm inside the restaurant. It became too unbearable to continue.

(4) Server – 4/5
The server was friendly and accommodating. Since we arrived right as they reopened at 4:00 PM, she likely needed time to get things ready for the dinner rush, so there was a bit of a wait. Understandable given the circumstances.

Overall: Would I come back? Probably not anytime soon. I was simply looking for a dim sum spot in Simi and this place had solid reviews, so I gave it a shot. In hindsight, it may have just been a matter of bad timing or ordering the wrong dishes.

The food was delicious! We ordered 3 large plates (Chow main, organs chicken and Mongolian beef) and egg rolls and shared between 3 and it was more than enough. Definitely will come back! The server was super nice and the place was very clean. Love it
PS. Took the pictures too late! It was half way done.

This is my second time here and it did not disappoint. My first visit was an excellent Moo Shu pork and now I’m having a very very good Mongolian beef. I loved chicken corn chowder for the crunchies that come with it and this is a great value as a lunch special. Come enjoy this place!

I’ve been here several times now and have been enjoying the food. Friends, hubby and in-laws have enjoyed it. The place is pretty clean and the ac is very cool. Service is friendly but can take a bit depending on how busy the place is.
I feel the portion size, at least for the small, is decent for the price.
The dimsum I’ve had was pretty good. I liked the bao ,potstickers and shumai.
My son really likes steamed chicken and on our most recent visit they accommodated us on the request which i appreciate.
