Gourmet Lunch is amazing! Please go in to the door on the left “Gourmet”. Maria makes the best food, and it is fresh every day. The menu changes depending on what she has, so you can call ahead if you would like to know. She usually has meat, chicken, 3 types of rice, plantains, vegetables, beans, and sometimes shrimp. I’m sure the side selections may change during the seasons. The meat is so tender, and the chicken so flavorful. Maria and group are so sweet and genuine too. I am happy to support this business, and so is my heart and stomach.

The food was so delicious! Definitely felt all home made. My friend and I went here before a concert, and the owner was so adorable and welcoming. She treated us with love and lemonade, which was a 10/10. I actually bought a lemonade to go because I couldn’t have enough of it. The restaurant is definitely a hidden gem and I will go here again when I visit NJ again.

There’s actually two spots here both have great options! I love the pernil that Maria makes, unlike most options for this in the area she always adds greens to the plate, this makes for a great well rounded meal. The medium is perfect for one person. Sometimes when I don’t feel like cooking I’ll order a large around 3 to take it home. It easily servers two!

I love Maria’s Gourmet! Her food is always on point and she has a lot of variety in lunch entree meats. Very humble and polite business owner. She makes you feel like you’re at home. I definitely recommend this place!

I go to both of the side-by-side businesses here at least once weekly.
As a Dominican, I’m uniquely qualifed to say that Maria’s cooking is phenomenal. These ladies treat you like family and it comes through in flavor! (This is the side under the “Gourmet” sign). There’s always a spread of options, with more to choose from the earlier in the lunch hour you go.
The more classic American fare is on the right – the door under the “Lunch” side of the restaurant signage. Their menu is extensive, they’re fast, affordable, and the food never disappoints.
This place is frequented by folks in Newark City Hall and the Municipal Court down the street.

Ladies behind the counter are very nice. Doesn’t save them from the fact they fill the plate with rice more than anything else. The ribs were delicious albiet greasy. Would recommend for a quick dinner or lunch.

Maria cooks Hispanic cuisine delicious, even when it’s such a small place. She cooks lunches for all workers in the area. Not a fancy restaurant but delicious and affordable Latin food…Arroz y Habichuelas…Arroz con Pollo…etc. Pork Ribs, excellent Salmon weekly and many other dishes.
