My elderly parents ordered dinner from here tonight and it was appalling. First they ordered on the phone instead of the app as that’s their preferred method of ordering. I helped them prepare by looking at the menu on the website. They wanted to split the open face turkey sandwich but couldn’t find it listed. So decided that the turkey dinner would be better given the website showed it came with soup AND salad. Upon calling they were not prompted by the order taker for the salad dressing and asked if it comes with salad too. They were told no. While clearly it was included if ordering on the website (for the same price). They relented and placed the order. I went to pick it up for them and asked about the salad. Now in a customer service oriented establishment, you think that they would honor the website menu discrepancy and throw in a salad. Something that costs them $1-$2 at cost to throw in. But no. Insistent the order taker (also the pickup person) said that this meal does not come with salad and the website is wrong. That the website is run by a third party. Now is that my fault for their error? I don’t think so. If I ordered via the app, they would owe me a salad from the receipt for the same price.
We also inquired about the open faced hot turkey sandwich and the order taker said it’s there. When we explained it’s not on the website she said it’s under special sandwiches (it’s not).
So to add insult to injury, we get home and they begin to eat when they yell about what’s in the dish. It literally looks like dog crap in the dish. It’s an inedible thing that’s supposed to be “dressing/stuffing”. I bravely had a taste to find it was some mush with curry flavor. Amazing that was allowed out of the kitchen.
Needless to say we won’t go there again after having been a customer since it opened (even a patron the land and sea diner that was there before).
If you’re reading this, go elsewhere.

There’s no other city in the US quite like New York City. It is the hub of international trade and finance with the setting for innumerable movies. Unfortunately for Batman fans, that’s not where New York’s famous “Gotham” nickname was established. The name was popularized by the writer Washington Irving in the Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Located off of Broadway in Fair Lawn, my partner and I have returned to Gotham City Diner after 4 years for brunch today. Upon entering, we got a booth by the window with high ceilings, decorated by various NYC subway signs where I recognized having spent years of my life, and huge, nice artwork on the wall.
Their menu featured two sides that have a LOT of options without being overwhelming, ranging from breakfast to dinner for everyone.
We decided on the 2 Eggs Scrambled with Corned Beef Hash and Short Rib Benny (Eggs Benedict).
The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients and tastefully delicious. The portions were generous and the price reasonable. Our service was prompt and friendly; our server was Susana.
The gentleman behind the register is always kind and professional. We made small talk about the huge painting on the wall that depicts 3 different places in New Jersey.
We continue to recommend.

The whole experience was super uncomfortable and uninviting. We made a pick-up order because we were really hungry after working out and decided to just pick up from a nearby diner. We call in a Chicken Caesar salad and a “barbecue” chicken wrap. First of all, the hostess and presumably the manager were very disorganized right off the bat bumping into other patrons and each other. And when we received our order I had to check and make sure that everything was on it and lo and behold there was no chicken. Mind you the bill for a plain Caesar salad and a barbecue chicken wrap was $33 – what? – The barbecue chicken wrap barely had any barbecue sauce on it and truly felt like someone had put water in a barbecue bottle and called that barbecue sauce and it was very soggy even after it coming right out of the kitchen. Would not recommend to anyone.

We are from a group home and ate at this diner before we enjoyed the experience but this time. We came back with our clients and staff we enjoyed the food and the waiter was great! Food was great ! The cashier at the front with straight blonde hair and snarky look was absolutely the most rude and disrespectful lady! She was in the middle of our transaction and taking other customers making our transaction more complicated..she deserves a good fat zero for customer service! Will never go back there !

I just came from the hospital from a test and wanted bacon and eggs. Well I didn’t go wrong ordering from Gotham Diner! The meal really hit the spot having fasted all day. The crispy, tasty potatoes were more than enough. I saved half for the next day. Worth every penny!

My family loves this place. Very kid friendly. One of the better diners in the area. Portions are great as well.

Honestly pretty disappointing first time eating here. Came here with my friend and right as we walked in, they asked us to seat ourselves and generally didn’t seem to want to direct us anywhere. Saw other people get exemplary service (waiter coming out to ask about the food quality, etc) while our waiter barely showed face, although he wasn’t impolite.
About the actual quality of the food it was pretty mediocre. My friend ordered the mozzarella sticks while I ordered chilli. The mozzarella sticks were obviously prepackaged (not fresh), came out with one less than advertised, and had no sauce. The chilli was more akin to a mashup of ground beef and beans with a bunch of cheese thrown carelessly on top rather than a stew, and didn’t taste good either. When we went to go pay, the woman at the front counter gave my friend a look that indicated they really didn’t want us here, and looked surprised when we didn’t leave a tip (for pretty obvious reasons). Altogether honestly just disappointing, mostly because I heard really good things about this establishment from friends but I didn’t have that experience. Oh well

The waitress name is Maria and she was so lovely and pleasant. She brought out hot bread on the table. The sweet potatoes fries was wonderful. The pasta was undercooked but it was good. The chicken noodle soup was amazing. The steak and onions was good. We also got appetizers and those were a meal all on its own, everything had good portion control and it was exquisite.
