People! Dine out and support local restaurants like this because they are doing good work. If anyone is visiting Manchester and wants a quieter spot with authentic dishes, this is the place to try. Food is halal and can be cooked to preferred taste if requested.
We visited with family in the evening. The restaurant wasn’t crowded when we were seated, yet we had to wait to place our order. We asked whether the portions would be sufficient for two adults and were told they would be. We ordered a drink, Char Kway Teow, Tom Yum soup, and Roti Canai with dhal for our child. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive, which was reasonable.
However, I ordered Tom Yum soup and was instead served a plain chicken clear soup, which was average and not what we asked for.
We later felt the adult portions were not enough and wanted to order more. It took several minutes to get the menu and again to get someone to take our order. When we tried to order additional food, we were told it could take a long time — possibly 20–30 minutes or more — and it felt like we were being discouraged from ordering further.
What felt uncomfortable was that a table seated next to us ordered food after we were told it would take too long, yet they received their food without issue. This left us unsure why we were treated differently.
After finishing, we asked for the bill. No printed or itemized bill was provided — payment was simply taken via phone.
Food-wise: The Char Kway Teow was decent but not memorable. The Roti Canai was good, but the dhal tasted stale and did not seem fresh.
We left quietly after paying, as there was no staff available to address our concerns.
I ordered the chicken soup to take back to work with me – the broth just tasted like salt and the chicken tasteful it had been left out. I couldn’t finish the soup.
The curries I ordered for my family were also terrible, no depth of flavour and just extremely basic. I also ordered one of the curries to come with prawns and they got the order wrong – they put chicken in both curries.
Safe to say I won’t be getting food from here again, very disappointed.
