Ordered delivery and really enjoyed the steamed chicken momos and the Chicken Chilly Fried Momos—they were definitely tasty. Unfortunately, the Indian dishes were a letdown. We ordered the palak paneer and butter chicken; the butter chicken was quite watery and the chicken quality was poor. Also, I’m not sure why red food coloring is used—more Kashmiri chili powder would be a much better choice.
The garlic naan was quite nice. Overall, I’d recommend focusing on their Nepali specialties rather than the Indian dishes.

Such a great place to stop on a cold snowy day. We got the Chana masala and chicken madras as mains, both with garlic naan and both great. The server was kind enough to let us try gulab jamun and it was also incredible. Definitely hope they deliver to our apartment!

I live in a small foodie town so I enjoy it when I get to a big foodie city. I am visiting my daughter in Chicago and the first day here she recommended Gorkha Kitchen for lunch. There are so many small neighborhood restaurants here but she promised me this is one of the best (it’s in Lakeview). The vibe was laid back with the owners being very welcoming. I ordered the Chicken Madras and she ordered the Lamb Korma and needed it gluten free, which isn’t always easy to navigate. Surprisingly, they were on top of it all and answered all her questions with ease. The real surprise was the food! My Madras was superb, a perfect mix of spicy and savory. The homemade naan was fantastic, light and buttery. She said her Korma was great….as always! The servings were a healthy size so I continued my feast a few hours later in her condo. The menu has something for everyone and anyone who needs gluten free options needs to go here. This was my first but definitely not my last time visiting them. Thank you Gorkha Kitchen!

After a few months again we visited this Gorkha Kitchen, a beautiful hidden gem. Always it is an ultimate delight to have dinner at the Gorkha Kitchen on Diversy Ave Chicago. This visit we ordered a very simple menu. Daal and Tandoor Roti with butter applied on it. Daal was sprinkled with super-hot aromatic sizzling tadka, and the Roti was straight from the Tandoor. On the side: green pepper fresh and onion thick cut. It was the most satiated dinner. Though simple, the fresh tasty food also had the personal touch of the Master Chef Bhoj Raj. Coupled with Nepali music, the cozy ambiance of the restaurant was a wonderful place to be that evening. We would for sure visit GORKHA KITCHEN again. Next visit we will enjoy BYOB feature of this smell-free eatery.
It’s a MUST VISIT place for both the preferences — Non Veg & Veg.
I give it a 5-Star.
PS: last visit we had freshly cooked saag that was fragrant and delicious. We had kept the picture taken that day and is being added today along with the latest.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Five-Star Review
Absolutely fantastic Nepali food and warm hospitality! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with genuine kindness and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is the real star—rich, authentic flavors that are perfectly balanced with spices and freshness. The momos are outstanding (some of the best in Chicago!), and the curries are deeply flavorful without being overpowering. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything tastes homemade with care. Whether you’re new to Nepali cuisine or already love it, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

Not making this up, but really great spot! Food feels more Nepalese than the usual Indian places—authentic and detailed, especially the Thali. Chef personally asked for feedback, which shows real care. Definitely worth a stop if you’re near downtown Chicago.

The food was fantastic! All of the curries were delicious. Spiced well and not overly creamy as is the case with many American Indian restaurants. The flavors were really dialed in. We also loved the chicken momos & the sauce they came with was excellent.
