Gorhams is the kind of place that does more than just serve food. It serves up a genuine feeling of home. If you are tired of impersonal chain restaurants and rushed service, you have found your antidote right here.
I have to start with the ambiance, because it is truly the best part. The moment my friend and I walked through that screen door, we were not treated like customers. We were treated like family coming home for Sunday supper. The hostess greeted us with a warm, “Find yourself a seat anywhere, honey, we are just glad you are here!” And you could feel she meant every word.
We settled into a cozy table and I just took it all in. The walls are covered in a wonderful collection of framed photos, the kind that tell the story of a community and a family. It makes the place feel lived in and loved. Since we were there during the holidays, the Christmas decorations added an extra layer of magic. It was not overly fancy, just cozy and heartfelt, like walking into your grandmother’s house.
Now, the food absolutely lives up to the incredible vibe. I have been a couple of times, but the crown jewel is without a doubt their Sunday buffet. It is a sprawling, beautiful display of Southern comfort. I loaded my plate with the most sublime, crispy fried chicken, the creamiest and richest mac and cheese, and collard greens with that slow cooked, smoky flavor that only comes from time and love. On another visit, I ordered from the menu and my friend got the shrimp and grits. It was so good I almost regretted my own choice. And whatever you do, do not skip the pineapple and coconut cake. It was the perfect, not too sweet end to a perfect meal. I am still dreaming about it.
But here is the thing. You can find great Southern food in a lot of places. What you cannot find just anywhere is this specific, soul nourishing feeling of being truly welcomed and cared for.
If you find yourself anywhere near FarmVille, you owe it to yourself to stop by. Do not just go for the plate lunches, the phenomenal sweet tea, or the legendary Sunday buffet. Go for the feeling of being welcomed, cared for, and fed, both body and soul. It is an experience I will be thinking about until I can get back there.

I ordered the breakfast platter. Scramble eggs tight with turkey sausage, grits and a cheese biscuit there definition of a cheese biscuit is not what I expected it to be. I did not taste or see any cheese. @ all Scrambled eggs with cheese was excellent. The grits were excellent. Yes They change there menu by adding Turkey link sausage and Turkey bacon Yes the listen to my concerns i don’t eat pork. Great customer service!!!

We tried this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon on a recommendation from a relative of the owner. We were not disappointed. We had an option of ordering from the menu or choosing the buffet. We chose the buffet. It’s a two plate buffet with the second plate being smaller in size than the first. I understand being that food may be wasted on the second trip. The decor is nice. The food choices were good. The taste was even better. Dessert comes with it but neither of us had the room to try it. This is definitely a place worth trying!

This place was amazing. My husband and I were traveling back to Jacksonville and took a little detour. So so glad we did. The food tasted so good, the people and service were great. The manager checked in with us. Everyone was wonderful. The converted home was beautiful. I have never been to FarmVille before but I can guarantee we will be back for some brisket on a Saturday. Thank you guys so much. ❤️

We were satisfied with our Sunday lunch here. The food was very good. I had the grilled salmon with rice and asparagus. There is a good variety of dishes available during the week including pork belly. Although I’m not a fan of pork belly those in our group who were said it was very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. We are scheduled to return for a big family event here in October. I look forward to a great late afternoon and evening.
Parking can be challenging especially for elderly customers. There are limited street parking it front of the establishment. However, additional parking is available down a few hundred feet down the block to the east and west on Wilson Street.

BBQ is always good and the Ribs are done just right.! The baked beans are sweet as are the ladies taking our order. Definitely worth the 70 minute ride from Raleigh. Tip – just tell the staff what you want (create your own meal) and they will work out the fairprice. Don’t be shy, taste it all!
There is a fair amount of seating inside, but it wouldn’t be a bad Idea if you brought along some lawn chairs and sit outside.

I’ve been twice and I enjoyed the customer service. The Habanero and the Hot Honey wings are definitely a hit. The Turkey Barbecue is amazing. I also enjoyed the Hamburger. This is definitely a place that I would take a date to or family and friends.
