Amazing gem in Bushwick. As a native New Yorker, this is the best Mexican I’ve ever had in NYC. Food combinations are stellar and pack a punch of flavor. The shrimp tacos were top notch, get those and the quesadillas with steak and also rajas leave you happy and satisfied. I wish my stomach could handle more food, I will be coming back over and over to this one.

My mom and I were visiting a family member at the nearby hospital and we wanted to get some lunch. She specifically wanted shrimp tacos and when we asked if they had them we were in luck because it was on their specials that day! We sat down around 2:30pm on a Saturday and we had a calm delicious lunch! I had the chicken tacos with some guacamole on the side. My portion was filling for me. The staff were upbeat and kind which we always love to see. I would definitely recommend a stop here!!

The food was great, chips and salsa variety were a nice touch (loved the garlic salsa the most). Their Michelada was exquisite and extremely flavorful. The tacos and pulled pork tacos hit the spot. Service was good too — would totally come back.

Ordered here only to wait an hour and for my entire order to be incorrect. Did not receive my vegetable tamales (the main reason i placed this order) received 3 funky greasy smelly kale tacos that were squished and cold. The fish tacos were bland, greasy and squished as well. See pictures I attached. The icing on the cake is no one at this establishment apparently answers the phone.(odd for a place that sells food?) After 5 calls I decided to go through grubhub for my refund instead of trying to give them the chance to remedy this like I initially was.

Great Atmosphere! Cute spot with lots of windows, small but has good seating. Hostess/Waitress very friendly and responsive. Drinks were soooo good! We got the Mezcalitas (Margaritas but with Mezcal) in hibiscus and mango. Both flavors were excellent. Tacos are a good portion size, a little on the simple side. No sides – no sour cream. Ordered the steak, fried fish and grilled octopus tacos. Octopus was the best followed by the fish.

Gordo’s Cantina is INCREDIBLE! They are open and have a good outdoor dining set up. Can’t wait to go back! I tried the open faced poblano and corn burnt cheese quesadilla and the shrimp tacos – both hit it out of the park. For dessert, their key lime pie is the best I’ve ever tasted!!! It’s creamy with layers of cookies and to die for! And churros with cajeta caramel and chocolate sauce were SO delicious!

Gordo’s Cantina is my favorite Mexican restaurant up north, no contest, not even close. I After moving back from Texas (where I lived for five years), I tried many Mexican places in the NJ/NYC area, and nothing hit like Gordo’s. The food is consistently delicious, drinks are perfect (I really missed prickly pear margaritas, and their’s is fantastic), and everything is a great price, especially for the quality!
I highly recommend any appetizer, the Arrachera Asada quesadillas are to die for, so we’re the chicken enchiladas i got on the seasonal menu. Every time I go I try something new and can confidently say that you really can’t go wrong.
The staff is always lovely, and the whole atmosphere is warm and welcoming. They’ve earned a forever customer. I’ll keep coming back as long as I’m here!

Hands down the best Pozole I’ve ever had and I’ve had them all over Mexico. Hearty portion in a rich pork broth with tortillas on the side. If it’s on the specials menu do not hesitate to order it. Margaritas are also perfect plus the staff and vibes are on point.
