Decided to try this location for some Cuban food while in Tallahassee. Good amount of options on the menu and being from central Florida I was looking for quality Cuban food that would compare.

We had their stuffed potatoes for app, which were pretty good. Followed that with the breaded steak dish, black beans, white rice, tostones and sweet plantains. Also had their boiled yuca. The black beans were just ok along with the yuca, it did not have the normal garlic approach. The steak was good, along with the plantains. The tostones were over cooked. The plates are massive so you can really share. Finished it off with their flan which was one of the best items, dense and rich. Btw a small piece of bread comes with the dish, but they charge for bread if you want more, most Cuban places in central Florida offer it free. Also, their water taste terrible, I always order the free water at restaurants, this one was really bad.

Service was very good, atmosphere was average. I would maybe visit again to try something different but not before looking for a different Cuban spot in Tallahassee first.

First time here and had the Pan Con Lechon and Pan Con Bistec sandwich’s. Started with the croquette’s and Cuban sliders as an appetizer. Portions are big which goes a long way in a college town. Food was good. Probably a little spoiled since we get Cuban in Miami often.

Took over an hour to get four sandwiches, which were less than average.

Fries were extremely salty, the steak sandwich was soggy and the server told us “I can’t go back there and cook your food” when we asked why it was taking so long. It was almost comical.

We were recommended to go there because I guess it’s well-known, but we should have read the reviews.

Management should really pay attention to the reviews before this place goes downhill.

The chicken Philly will have you in a state of euphoria in a matter of seconds . With every bite it getting better and better definitely on the rustic cantina side but thats what make the whole experience that much better and the servers are extremely friendly and willing to answer your questions about the menu.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and well-run. The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish came out perfectly cooked and beautifully presented, and you can tell quality is a priority here.

But honestly the best part about dining in today were the staff! Gigi, Lauren, Julia, Hayley, and Alyssa. They all went above and beyond to make the experience exceptional. They were friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely made us feel valued as guests especially Lauren I really loved her. Service was fast without feeling rushed, and every recommendation they gave was spot-on.

Just the service alone I would eat here again and again! 5 stars

I am a regular here and the food and service is always so good! I usually have Leah, but today I had Roxanne and she was amazing. She’s so sweet! Highly recommend either of them if you come here.

Lauren is hands down one of the best servers I’ve ever had. From the moment we sat down, she was charismatic, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She knows the menu inside and out, made great recommendations, and kept everything running smoothly without ever feeling rushed or intrusive. You can tell she truly enjoys what she does, and that energy makes the whole experience better. Gordo’s Pensacola location in Tallahassee is lucky to have her—service like that is rare these days. I’ll absolutely be coming back and hoping to sit in her section again.

We went to this restaurant because a friend of my husband told him the food was really good there. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and my husband got the Gordo Burger. First of all, the food took a long time to arrive, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. My Cuban sandwich was the most unpleasant one I’ve ever had — it was all soggy and only had three strips of ham. I also ordered sweet plantains, and they came out burnt. My husband’s burger was burnt and dry, and the paper towel roll had rust on the bottom.

The server didn’t give us bad service exactly, but she wasn’t friendly at all. She basically threw the food on the table and asked us to bring the check to her because she had to go home.

Apparently, this restaurant has a well-known name and is in a good location — maybe that’s why it’s still running. But the food and service? 4 out of 10.

Edit: seeing all the reviews that are clearly botty or pushed by the manager with literally nothing else but naming a waitress is so obvious. They only reply to the critique reviews.
the seating is a free for all so you basically have to wait around for people to get up, and get their table before a busser can even come otherwise you will not be able to sit down. we ended up sitting at a bar outside where the waitress came out maybe every 20 minutes to check on us and after i ordered a drink, did not come back with my water for about 30 minutes—i had to ask again. the food took even longer, probably about an hour for three meals. i got some empanadas and they were pretty dry without the sauce, clearly frozen and then cooked. my other friends thought their food was dry as well.

we also had their gordos smash. the price is not on their menu so was surprising to see it was $13 for just a glass of mixed alcohol; it tasted horrible. it’s nice you get to keep the cup but it makes me think we are literally just paying to keep the plastic. our server from the bar never came out again after we got our food so we had to go inside to get our checks and saw she was the only one working the bar in and out side. clearly they are severely understaffed given the lack of service, and to charge the high amount for food and drinks when there is barely adequate seating and the restaurant has seen better days is laughable. my friends and i will never come back which is a shame given how much i’ve heard about this place.

Food is overpriced and low quality. I just ordered an empanada sampler and masitas de puerco. The sampler contained 3 empanadas, compared to the 6 I remember getting a long time ago.

The masitas de puerco barely contained enough pork to be considered a full serving, and the pork was clearly flashfried as opposed to slow cooked (as the pork was tough as shoeleather).

I just spent 45 bucks for two beers, the masitas de puerco, and the light empanada sampler (3 vs 6), and honestly I won’t be back. Staff was fine, this seems like management pinching pennies on serving good portions. I regret spending my money here.
