I appreciate the Detroit DTW airport for its numerous restaurants and places to sit and have a bite to eat . Especially since most airports around the world have poor food options and are always overpriced.
During a recent stop in DTW I decided to get some early dinner at Gordon Biersch. They are located at the far end of the terminal A headed towards gate A70.
Upon arrival there was no wait and hostess invited me to sit at an open high top . It was not very busy but service was a bit slow . But as I was not a big rush that was not a problem . My waitress was kind and apologetic for the delay and offered a free refill drink option for my ice tea which was nice .
Menu is straightforward with emphasis on handhelds sandwiches and a fair amount of salads options. I chose their Cali grilled chicken sandwich with avocado and a side of the “famous” garlic fries . Chicken sandwich was well prepared and grilled and was not heavy which I appreciated. Fries are okay not too garlicky but nothing I would personally call legendary.
Atmosphere is okay as it is within a terminal gate environment with a bar in the middle so it does tend to get loud , at least when I was there .
I would stop by again when layover in Detroit . Food was good .

Getting my usual drink before my flight takes off. Double ciroc red berry with a splash of lemonade. The two bartenders Nicole and Ginger were Great. Absolutely amazing. Great conversation to ease the tension before flying. Highly recommend you stop and see them in the morning before u fly out

The Parmesan fries were delicious! If you get a regular size, there are a lot! We also had a Cobb salad which was satisfying. Kristin was a great server – she anticipated what we needed with sharing plates and a welcoming demeanor.

Torn on this, if you love beer, definitely stop by, food was what made this 4/5; they have a great hazy and marzen on tap you oughta try. Had the fish and chips (good portions), fish was splendid with the their tartar sauce but the garlic fries weren’t crispy… Looking around, that seemed like a common occurrence, but they did have a great flavour. I highly recommend coming here for the beer and to try the food, you will leave full and happy I’d say!

Not bad at all for an airport restaurant. The coconut shrimp was really good. Half decent beer selection and the mixed drinks were was just like I like them. Service was great.
