I have been to Lolis Gorditas other location in South Chicago and I always enjoy the food and service.
When I saw there was a new Gorditas Lolis location here at Calumet City I was excited since I no longer have to drive all the way to 106th St to try some home made gorditas as I used to.
As always they are home made and served hot.
I ordered a steak and cheese, a potatoes and cheese and a egg in molcajete salsa.

I first noticed this place via ad on social media, however if you were to drive by. I think it would be easy to overlook or difficult to tell if they were open. It’s a newer establishment to the area I believe, and the atmosphere is very nice. There was a language barrier as the menu was all in Spanish and the waitress was not very fluent. Food was not bad but wasn’t great. I would give them another try.

CASH ONLY This is a must try if you live around the neighborhood. These gorditas “Gore’D/tus” are very delicious and are authentic Santiago style. We had the fresh waters “Aguas Frescas” pineapple water is out of this world along with Jamica “hibiscus” water was not to far behind in flavor 5/5 . We had steak gorditas I felt that the meat can be a bit more well done, but I will not knock it hot and fresh to my liking 4/5. The chicarron prensado pork rinds with pork red sauce, was another gordita we tried 5/5. Chicharron en salsa Verde pork rinds in green salsa was very tasty 4/5. The service was good price is super reasonable tip your servers they are young and hard working.

I have eaten here 3 times. Pretty good food. Stark tacos are great. Steak and pablano pepper gordita is great. I had a pork one that was pretty good too.

I went to eat on Sunday and it didn’t seem busy. Food took almost an hour to come out. The gorditas were hard on the edges. Had the same experience over a year ago and I see it’s still the same!

I go there once a week. I’m addicted. These are the best gorditas I’ve tasted from any restaurant. They’re thin enough to be cooked through, but still sturdy enough to hold the ingredients inside. Expect a 25-35 minute wait time for them to be cooked to perfection.

I got a gordita de chorizo con papa had no taste of chorizo just potato it was very flavorless and no chorizo meat at all was very disappointed because thats what they are known for. I had also gotten a quesadilla with steak it was good alright wouldn’t come here again was very disappointed unfortunately.

I had a bad experience with two waitresses (in the am shift) with a chorizo gordita that had no taste to it; I had some issues (first time here) exchanging it, I was ignored by one lady and the other one said we normally don’t exchange food if you don’t like it. She said it will be exchanged this time, but, for the next time, they will not do it! I said to myself, there won’t be a next time.. Because of; the greed, and questioned me if I had drinks that she needed to charge me for, we had only water? She was becoming more disrespectful, and not acknowledging I wasn’t satisfied with the ‘chorizo gordita’ and being ignored with the first lady and how things should’ve been handled differently, no tip was left.. It was best to walk away, and give a review so other customers can see how this might happen to them.

Great staff. Clean restaurant. Paid with debit card. Food was bland. We tried 9 varieties of their Gorditas mostly meat and a couple no meat. Both salsas were good. Blended smooth and kind of creamy with good kick. But, gordita filling themselves were all bland and not very fresh. Maybe they batch cook too much in advance and forgot to add salt to bring out any spices used. Including precooking too far in advance the tortillas. They were not holding up to the fillings. It was difficult to distinguish between the 7 different fillings. That is not a good thing when you focus on just one food. Gorditas is the FOCUS offering. They should be out of this world wonderful. Not, “meh. I can do better myself.”
