I was just told that Gooski’s was shutting down… : r/pittsburgh
Honestly, it doesn’t surprise me. As a music venue, lots of bands avoid the place due to smoking. 31st St had the same issue.

Best place for a Guinness, when I moved to PGH back in ‘99 I was lucky enough to meet a friend who has been a local at this bar for over 20 years and i could see why. Amazing dive bar with chill atmosphere and the best glass of Guinness. I once walked from downtown to Gooski’s for a cold glass of Guinness! Always swing by now when I’m back in town and recommend for you Guinness and dive bar lovers!!

Went for the first time. Totally chill place, felt super comfortable, great service, street parking. Only went for some drinks. Graffiti everywhere, somewhat obsene, maybe it’s just there to weed out the riff raff? Diverse patrons, likely mostly local regulars? Yes there was a bit of smoke, to me it was more like restaurant smoke of days gone by, not like the thick, heavy, blue air I’ve often experienced back then. Yet most places these days have no smoking, so this place might seem like a lot?!

Visited twice. The best wings I’ve ever ate, and I’m not a wing guy. They also give you a load of fries or tots. Drinks are good. This will be my go to in Pittsburgh. Good dive bar

What a vibe this place is, visited from Michigan and I would travel back to Pittsburgh just to go back to this bar. Bartenders and people of Pittsburgh were amazing. Played ping pong in the back room and they had Żywiec which made for a great night

We heard there was live music, there was no live music and it was completely filled with cigarette smoke. We ordered an Uber as soon as we got there- didn’t stay for a drink.

Went there for the first time last night with some friends. Haven’t tried the wings yet but have heard good things. Love the grungy/punk vibe of the whole place.

Judas betrayed Jesus for 12 pieces of silver that he would later spend at gooskis. I met the love of my life here. Or at least I will someday.

a dive bar filtered through punk aesthetic. great selection of beers, a raucous vibe. i love the jukebox of nothing but personally assembled compilations. you want to listen to music you love? you’re gonna have to work for it by searching through scribbled hand notes of those compilations which are as random as they are intriguing. live music…. sometimes…. usually some weird, obscure, or cool movie playing as background noise, a pinball machine beckons from the corner. this is a place where it feels like anything can happen
